Canooing fun!!

Hello :) how is everyone??

I will be playing catch up for a while because I have sooo many photos to share.....

Today is all about our canooing adventure. Over the summer me and the boys went to Creggan Country Park. What a ball we had, I thought the boys would have been too small but, they loved it as did I.

I've not done anything like that since I was at school, and forgot how much fun it was, it's also a damn good work out! Me and my friend janice had a race and my tummy was in agony after it!!

The lovely instructor took the boys for a while. So that I could have a wee splash to myself, I really was surprised at how much the boys enjoyed it... I thought fear would come into it a little more! But look at them! Sitting there lapping it up!

This is defo a day activity that I would do with the boys again. My wee salours :)

Finn's 4th birthday...

Hello there peep's

Today I'm posting about Finn's birthday, it was back in August but I figured Frazer's is just past & I don't want to leave the wee guy out!!

We had a lovely wee morning opening pressies....

We took Finn to a place called Red Castle in Ireland, it is such good fun.... Not only for the boys but if your a big kid then it's such a laugh, I love the dodgems they are soooo much fun!

Finn really did have the best day lots of his friends came for the party and it turns out he loves the dodgems too!! My boys are at such a fun age..... Still hectic but fun!

After such a exciting day they got a well deserved nap!!!!

We had such a great time, we've been back a couple of times. It has such a lovely beach too. I have a few photos of a different day out there. But that is for another post.

So people I am now a go for photo blogging again.... I have the biggest smile right now.

My how the boys have grown in the last 7 months :)

Me and the boys were out to the cinema today see Alvin & The Chipmunks - Chipwrecked with our friend Nicole for Frazer's 3rd birthday, the boys enjoyed it and that was the main thing! I wouldn't be taking them to see it again that's for sure!

Frazer had the best time..... He got to make his wish!

You wonder where the times goes I mean Finn is 4 & half.... Frazer will be at nursery in September. It will be good to have some more me time I plan to use it crafting and making a perfect wee home!

I'm still off the smokes it's been 17 days now....

So like the title says.... 2 posts 1 day!

I am loving the wee nudge back into many things here...... Blogging , sewing, sharing and all that with a chance to win something too... LOVE IT!!!

I have only just descovered Very berry handmade, they are a inspiring bunch!!!! Many a colourful thing to gaze at and project to put on the to do list... you know you have one!!!! Anyways they have a massive giveaway over on their site. So much lovely fabric I can never say no.....

So my Sewing Resolutions huh.....

ONE- I will finish my quilts from 2011!

TWO- I shall keep a notebook with pencil beside my bed, for those midnight ideas!

THREE- I will make time to sew once a week...

Ironing sewing crochet and more!!!!!

Hello and happy saturday to y'all!!!

Today has been a long but productive day......

I reckon I must have ironed my weight in clothes!!! And have to say I am dreading putting it away. All that being said I am so happy to have it done. And look forward to having to have everything at hand!!! I even have the school uniform done..... SSSOOOOO not like me!!!

I have been crocheting away and have finished one face cloth, have started the other.... I have been asked for one from my friend's mummy and will be getting lunch for me and the boys think I get the better end of the deal there!!!

Frazers 3rd birthday is on monday, I have his wee pressies in a box hiding :) I'm gonna take him and his brother for some ice cream as a treat in the afternoon. I love the new shop in town! Yummy Yummy!!!

I have my eye on this as my next quick fix in sewing...... I found it on the sewing directory facebook page. I first have to finish my friends kindle cover! Talking of the all inspiring Fiona over at The Sewing Directory.... Check out this....... I will be getting a post done up on this maybe later today!!!

Reckon I might chance my arm and try get this other post done now... The boys are happily playing behind me

Hello there.....

How are we all today???

I have been out on another driving lesson this morning, the instructor reckons i'm doing real well..... I am so happy to hear that. He says if I keep it up i'll be driving in no time. Imagine all that freedom... I really can't wait to be able to say "right boys in the car we're off to the beach". I'll be reading away at my theory test book tonight!

Me and the boys are grand.... We're in the library for now, but will be heading to the fabric shop to buy some iron on interfacing. For a free bag tutorial I found through the Sewing Directory... Links to follow the library has a ban on links!! We are all gonna head home and do some re-potting of spider plants and chilli plants! looking forward to a little mucky fun with the boys!

Today has been filled with crochet....

As ever ravelry is a wonderful place to waste away hours!!! hard to keep on point to be honest.

I am crocheting a few face cloths at the moment and am looking for nice edging..... For boys?!?!?!

Anyone any suggestions???

All I can find is this.... And it's great and simple but could do with a little more umph!!!

I'm still not smoking.... And am still counting the days till my own laptop arrives

Is anyone working on a fab crochet project??? would love a wee nose!!!

Monday and still going strong!

Hello there, how are we all?

I am still off the smokes!!!

We are going good here.... I love Monday not many people can say that, but I love a bit of structure in my days and Finn going to nursery is certainly a part of that!

Frazer is happily running around the library just now, we've started taking books out again.... Now that the boys are no longer riping them up! That and the promise i've made myself..... NO more late charges... How can I be that forgetfull!! I won't tell you how much the last charge was, I could have bought the books twice over!!

Talking of books has anyone seen "The Libertys Book Of Home Sewing" I adore it!! might have to go get it on amazon! All my books out at the mo are all about decorating and sewing...

I have hopes of being re-housed soon... I shall for now, be staying in Derry but watch this space as things could change fast! Me and the boys have been in communiual living now for 7 months and it's hard going.... I think I can say for us all a wee home of our own will be GREAT! also it means I can sew things for the new wee home too!!!! I have started a ring binder with lots of ideas and inspiration... I do love a bit of cutting and sticking :)

I have been reading away at my theory test book, and will be back on the disk tonight.... The next lesson is on Wednesday can't wait... Beep beep!!

7 Days huh.....

I am oh so PROUD of myself

I have been off somkes for 7 yes SEVEN days!

I started when I was 13 years old till 26. I then stopped for 5 years! I was on the smokes for 5 months there....... I am using the Inhaler, reckon it's a good option, you still have something to do with your hands. The first 5 days were fine, have to say I was very irritable for 6! Feeling good today. I reckon i'm a pretty stubourn lady so fingers crossed!!

My aim is to stop the smoking, then I will be able to run a car for me and the boys. The freedom... I would love to be able just to drive and go on a weekend. There is so much to see in Northern Ireland. I miss Inch Island. I hope to take the boys back there this summer :)

I'm back!!!!!

Oh how good it feels to be getting back to blogging........ I have missed my rambling ALOT!!!! I will be posting with no pics for a couple of weeks whilst I wait for my netbook. I was going to wait and start writting when it arrived but it seems the mojo is back with evengance and I just want to type away!!

So where to begin huh.... It has been a hard 7 months, but I am now ready to dust myself off and march on with purpose. I feel that this has always been a positive blog and don't want my first post.... If any to be too down, so I may at some point tell you of my journey in the last few months but hey I might not.

My boys are doing very well Finn is in nursery and loving it he looks so much older in his uniform it's unreal! I have to say the school run is hectic but I've been at it since September so am gettting used to it! Although school dinners are a pet hate.... I mean all the washing!!!! Who knew there could be more washing.Frazer is chatting away.... infact he never stops! He is also singing away :) too cute!

We had a fantastic christmas, and I was overwhelmed by the kindness of others. The boys were spoilt. But their wee faces on christmas morning were just so lovely to see. I was worried that it was going to be cancelled this year! No joke. I shall get their photos up as soon as the laptop arrives!

For me I have has a positive start to the year.... I have stopped smoking only for the 6 days so far but every day is a day to celibrate! I have also started my driving lessons again :) And am now studying for my theory. Freedom here we come!

Well I shall have to go as I am on the library computer and time is now up.... But I shall be back tomorrow and hopefully I shall have remembered stuff and things to tell you!

Crochet and so much more!!!

Well hello there peeps, yes I am still alive and plodding along....

Me and the boys are doing good, Finn is loving nursery and I have to say he's too cute in his wee uniform (photos to follow) He has settled in no bother no crying and tells me he will see us later and to have a coffee!!! couldn't ask for better!

I have been crocheting a hexagon blanket to keep my concentration up (photos to come), and it is working wonders, a girl gave me the wool and told me to create!! The pattern is over at attic24, I reckon if you wanna learn how to join colours and to bobble stitch, this pattern is a given!! And free!!

I have started a wee dress for my friend laura... She has just had a wee girl and called her Faye, I don't think I have seen a sweeter little girl! The dress is all polka-dots and ruffles. the pattern was half price from simplicity, and the dress is all made from stash busting!! Happy happy! I have also started a conveyer belt of teddies in waist coats which is also helping with the old stash busting!! I hope to have used up alot more fabric before I head on home...

Well I hope you are all keeping well, I am off to go do some drawing with the boys and maybe even a little baking!!!

OK so I am most certainly running a little late.... For my start up date I am moving from Derry to Edinburgh.... But dates are a little sketchy at the mo. I am going to have a few months to follow up on but as I said I have lots of pics......

On another note I have just picked up Finn from his first day at nursery. So proud of him no screams or crying, that's my boy!!

Well hello there, how have you all been?
I've been well.

Me and my friend Pauline got a wee night out, the cinema to see Arthur after a few drinks, then off to get some food in Karma I had salt and chili prawns... Yummy yummy!

After our yummy dinner we had a few cocktails...
It was so nice to just be us, and not worry about the kids.
We had such a good night we were able to get out a wee boogie in too!

Well how is everyone's Easter going?

I have a pre-Easter post for you, as the boys have their hunt after their tea.... I like to think they have a belly full of proper food first, before all the chocolate good-ness!

Me and my friend took advantage of the good day (a few days ago now!) And took the boys to the park....

This is Pauline with her youngest Liam, a wee cutie indeed...

And our boys on the round about..... Jo-jo and Frazer are so close in height, I hadn't noticed before!!

This is us on the walk home... Finn looks so lost in thought I love it

It has been another glorious sunny day here, minus the rain so even better than yesterday! I have had a day of catching up on stuff you know washing, dishes etc.... But I managed to get a little Easter prep in with the boys. I am soooo looking forward to having our first hunt tomorrow, what fun it is making your own traditions eh!!

Bad blogger yes I am... Oh & food food food!!!

So I have been a bad blogger of late... Yes I have.

Life has been a roller coaster at here at chez Traci, but that is for another post. Today is all about food glorious food, I recently bought Lorraine Pascale's recipe book....

BAKING MADE EASY

And I have to agree with her time... Yeah the bread takes a-lot of kneading, but hey if it's worth doing s worth doing well I say.

The good thing about this book is it's not all cakes which you find with lots of baking books this has cakes, breads, pies, and I have only made a few things... I have to say if you like cooking this book is a good book to have on the shelve.... Just want to say also this is not a sponsored post just little old me saying it's a good book!!

Family tree Building....

I have a exciting post for you today...
Well exciting for me anyways, I had looked into doing my family tree in 2009, and it turns out a second cousin had already started it, That being said it was my family as I know oh so many people in the tree, but it was all coming going through the route of my Granny Mattie and her ancestors. I do love that I have a substantial head start, and it is very interesting to see where my Granny Mattie comes from, being mostly Portobello Edinburgh & Ayrshire Scotland, BUT I have definitely been bitten by the bug.

I have always known my Biological fathers name and have recently found out his D.O.B So after a little searching, I have managed to find is his birth certificate, this is now on it's way to me, I am super excited.... He's from Musselburgh Edinburgh, and I have even found out his parents names and they were married there too.

On my mums side I have more Portobello Edinburgh from my Biological grandfather & great grandmother.... But have to do some more research...

Park time!!

Hi there
So how is every one? We have been good this end.... The weather has been a little Crazy to say the least. But amoungst all the heavy showers in the last week there has been real sunshine, much to my joy, walking has begun..... Me and my friend Pauline took our boys to St Columbs park ....

It was just so lovely to be able to take the boys for a wee adventure, it's been so long! I really think that this park is one of the prettiest in Derry. There are fun play parks for all ages, a leisure centre for community sports, a hotel/conference centre and the park itself massive so it's great for a good walk, Finn loves to throw stones in the stream. I think there will be more photos for me to share, through the coming months!

Shopping in Mandors Edinburgh

So whilst in Edinburgh for my brief visit, I managed to get a little fabric shopping done.... I went to Mandors which is pricey enough, but you get what you pay for I say!

I love the under construction fabric, I think it will be brilliant for little tote bags for the boys, and a little quilting too! The black and white graffiti fabric is a heavier cotton, it was a remnant and I'm not sure on it's purpose yet, but it has the cogs turning for sure! As for the tartan bundles, I just couldn't walk past them.... Just shows you how long I've not been home for huh!! I'm a tourist!!

This fabric was a total bargain at £5 a meter.... I love it, reminds me so much of home nostalgia is a strong incentive to buy fabric for me it would appear! I think this will be a crochet hook roll...

I know we should be nearing summer-ish weather soon, but both my boys are Harold the helicopter & Jeremy the jet plane mad, so this fabric will be put to great use at some point. As for my already coveted dolls.... I LOVE them I will be making the perfect tank top.

Gardening has commenced!

Hello there peeps
I have to say it feels like forever since I last wrote, I had lost my blogging mojo.... But it appears I have found it again!! I am oh so glad to I do love a good old blah blah blah to myself!

We have been buying and planting seeds for the coming summer.... When it decides it's coming that is! There have been a few nice days, I am looking forward to a few more though!

Me and the boys got out strawberries planted along with our herbs (the basil didn't last long the birds ate it the buggers!) We also have garlic and last but not least our peppers and tomatoes are beginning to sprout too. I fell like I have been missing out on all the gardening fun, for all this time.... That being said the boys very much enjoy watering so it might just have come at the very right time!

My friend also gave me a over grown pot of Aloe vera and I managed to get 13 plants out of it! I can't believe that there were so many in one pot! I hope they thrive in their new pots!! They would make lovely wee gifts for Easter with a poem too. Pauline also gave me a few cuttings from her money tree... I hope they sprout too!

I shall keep you posted on my green fingered escapades!!

A granny update.... My Granny Mattie seems OK ,I have been calling nearly everyday, just to say hi. Thanx for all your lovely comments they were greatly appreciated really they were xx

A quick visit home- A sad post sorry.

I have a rather heavy post today.... Better out than in they say.
So please be aware before you read.

I have been off on a visit home to Scotland-Edinburgh.

I had called my much loved Granny Mattie on her house phone last week with no answer, which I found odd. So I tried her mobile to have my mother answer.... I knew something was wrong -1 my Mum should be at work, -2 why was she answering Granny Matties phone....

My granny Mattie has had open heart surgery before, so I was beyond worried. It had turned out my Granny Mattie had taken another heart attack, but to my relief not half as bad as before, she has had a stent which is a small balloon inserted in to her artery (beside her heart) as it had collapsed, she seems to be on the mend now. I love my granny, more than most things in the world and am full of relief.

So this is my picture of us just last Thursday Paddy's day to be precise.
My granny is my rock always has been and always will be.
I only hope that one day I can be the woman she has become, a inspiration, a person who is such a source consistency, a shoulder to cry on, who will be there and never judge, and also give you that stern word when required... I could go on and on but I have a tear in my eye!

If you have a candle or any wee blessing.... And feel the urge, it would be very much appreciated as she is a woman worth her weight in gold. And I want her to be in tip top form ASAP... As she put it "it's not my time dear I have too much to do"

Whilst over with my Granny I found out my Grandad has Prostate cancer, I have not looked into it as I am full of fear for them both, they are companions and have to think the very best thoughts. Cancer has played a big role in my life, after my dad passed at the age of 46 with terminal cancer I have found it very hard to come to terms with his loss he was my best friend, the thought of losing someone else, well to put it bluntly brings me to my knees with a heavy heart....

I apologize for the heavy post really I do, but this is a type of free therapy I suppose better out than in they say....

On a happier note
I made my granny a rad doll a long time ago....

And here she is right above her bed, it makes me proud
Warms me cockles you might say.

I have been scouring the rails for a fab summer jacket, but alas the thrifting has thrown me a blank... So far anyways. I seen this pattern through, a giveaway over at the Sewing Directory and fell in love, the fabric well.... I had a meter already, so went mission hall to get some more, much to my surprise there was enough left for my jacket!

Rummaging again!!

Well hello there
How is everyone?
I have had a fairly relaxing day today, me and the boys were out for a walk, as it was nice again. How happy are we that the sun is eventually rearing it's happy face?!? I managed to actually remember quite a few things on my list today... Well done I hear you say eh!! It was quite a feat for me as I forgot the bloody list running out the door!!! So I now have a printer with ink, which is most helpful! And I can now burn all the boys movies..... Again so glad I save their movies on the computer, they always scratch the discs!!

Anyways enough of the jibber jabber!!!!!

I have always been a thrifter but with Flea market finds I feel like I can share the excitement sad I know but it's the little things.... Plus kids do that to you. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it! I have been still been shopping away but I have not been able to photograph much lately you know life and laundry and all that jazz!!!!

I found this dress just a couple of days ago..... I love it the style really suits me too. It's River Island but I got it for £3!

This is a Primark number that is begging to be altered. I am going to take the elastic waist out and make it a fitted LBD any suggestions?? Should it have buttons? A belt? Mr Phew thinks it looks like a nun's dress!!!

It is defo the lace that gets me for sure!!
That and the £1.50 price tag!

Now the 3 items in this photo were all in the same shop and cost just £6.
The skirt is just too cute really it is, the pattern is so simple too.
The Cardi has me written all over it I love stripes and gray seems to be a trend!!
The bag needs a better lining as it's basically plastic but I have some china silk in my stash...

It has summer time written all over it...

Well hello there, I missed my creative space last week. Another week gone, I have to say creatively I've been a bit meh, Mr Phew was back for a couple of days so it took a step back! I have been messing about with the pattern alterations for my big butt pants, with a big thanx to Amanda from kitchycoo I now have a pattern to fit Frazer which is in the process!!!

The fabric is a up-cycled bed sheet!! I think it will be spot on when it's done!

I was out shopping today too, now that I know we are going on holiday in a few weeks, I had to grab a few bits.... I never really wear blue, I should really like it, as it's as close as you can get to purple!! So I picked this pattern I reckon i'll go for the blue one it's strapless so less tan lines!!!

So as it turns out I am a person who, is full of gusto when things are started, not just sewing projects but all things!!!! I have known this for quite sometime, but my blogging has shown me just how "late" I run... I have lots of examples but hey, I'm not gonna be that honest!! I have taken the first step, not rectifying my trend.... But running with it, it doesn't have to be a bad thing?? As long as I get my projects done I say.....

So with this in mind, I was super happy to have found this little course...

The infamous Granny Mattie's knitting, this is a cardi/jacket with a scarf and hat to match, I'd say it's age 4-5, as Finn is 3.5 and it's still a long while till it would fit... It's Arron and will wash really well....

Here are 3 wooden embroidery hoops looking for a new home as I have doublers, I bought them in a clear out on eBay and have never used them....

This little bundle of fat quarter's will make a lovely wee summer project I'm sure....

I'm having a clear out of all my patterns also, this is a lovely vintage 2-piece size 50...

This dress pattern size 20, has such a lovely bust line, in the right fabric this would be a show stopper....

This dress pattern size 14, is right in time for summer and comes as in a maxi dress size too...

So the 83rd Oscars have been and gone.... Did anyone watch it???

I watched the highlights and acceptance speeches...

I have to say I have not seen the movie "The Kings speech"
But what acceptance speech huh!!!
I have always been a fan of Mr firth, I mean Mr Darcy.... And what about Mark Darcy...

Colin has his own way with words!

On to the dresses...

I have to say that Cate was thee lady for me in her, Givenchy Haute Couturers, it is divine I love it i think the Oscars deserve that little bit extra, and here is how to do it... It screams Hollywood glamor and she looks so effortless, which we all know is so not the case!!

And here is a real lady, I love the colour of this Vera Wang gown and the construction is just wow! Sandra looks so good, she shows everyone that rail stick thin is so not in.

I do love a lady growing old gracefully, and boy oh boy if I look like Helen at her age then I will be thanking my lucky stars I mean look at her, Vivienne Westwood the dress is just so spot on and I love her hair too it compliments her features.

Now this Valentino Haute Couture gown for me, is fantastic but it would have been so much nicer if Florence was not so bloody thin.... Is there any need to be this thin? You are in the limelight and young people look up to you... I think yes I love this gown but.... EAT some pies please!!!

And here is another fabulous gown but again with the not eating, I mean where are the even vague curves, I know your a woman but I can't see it.... It's a shame really as this Gucci dress is to die for..... I may seem harsh, but hey these are people who should be mindful that yes people are looking up to them and being SO skinny is not a go thing...

Well hello there
HAPPY MONDAY TOO YOU!
It's sunny here in Northern Ireland, and boy am I happy too see that. Don't get me wrong I love snow... A lot but hey, with my two wee guys it's all the better too look at!

I have been noticing all over blog land that the Pantone colour of the year is out....

I have to say I agree with Gertie on this one, I have a seen other colours that have reminded me more of honeysuckle, but hey Fashion is a crazy world!!!

I am enjoying the whole collection colours for women 2011

Do you have a fave, I do like the honeysuckle it's so bright it makes you think of happier things..... Rather than the economies downturn or whatever! But I love the muted two at the end they have a real vintage feel about them!

The men in our lives have their own pallet too.....

To be honest what's the difference!!!!!
For me Not so much!!!
And to be honest if the man in my life starts stealing Silver cloud clothes well.... woe betide ! Although really he never would!!!I do have to say I am more interested in the Autumn Winter pallet but dear regular readers, you know me well enough to know that PHLOX aka in the world of Traci PURPLE is my fave colour!!!

Fixing this & fixing that!!

I have been a little snowed under of late now by any Actual snow... Just life and laundry as ever!!! You know Ironing, Bed changing...... Blah blah!

I have hosted another sewing class for the young mums aged from 16yrs-19yrs, and there was a extra girl this week, and they seemed more interested this week, the buntings have been cut, appliqued and are now pinned ready for the sewing. The girls are looking forward to next week as am I! They defo inspire me.

On another front, the boys have found a few new hobbies, Thomas The Tank Engine seems to be waning a little. It's all fire trucks, cars, trucks & buses for now! Wee Frazer has caught a tummy bug and is a little green around the gills, I feel for my him he catches everything going, Fingers crossed it passes very soon.

I have been fixing away at things too, my boys seem to be finding "fun" things to do when I'm not looking AKA aaaahhhhh in mummies world!!!!! But hey boys will be boys and I wouldn't have them any other way!!!

The fish are so much happier now!!!

On another note..... My hairdresser was round and gave me a trim and a long layer, straightened it too. I love my hair like this sometimes, a change is as good as a holiday!

This Cream seams to be a hidden gem in the Parenting world, well it is for sure over here in the UK, there are quite a few pros to this lovely cream, as you see from the links above. All I can say is being a mummy of 2 boys, I only wish I had heard of this hidden gem for myself, as both my boys were plagued with blisteringly sore bums during teething time, also I breastfed both my boys so, the constant change in hormones in the milk also gave my boys sore red bums. I Have to say I was one of the mummies who searched and searched for THAT cream!! Alas it seems I have discovered THE cream. When my boys are on to the very last of their teething and they are for sure not breast feeding now at 2yrs and 3.5yrs!

It is recommended by Pediatrician. Goes on and cleans off easily, It comes in an array of sizes 1oz, 2oz, 3oz and 4oz tubes, 16oz jar. So can be carried around in a handy wee flip top tube, to a large tub to keep at home, It apparently has a lovely scent but this does appear to be quite half and half but if we all had the same sense of smell then that would be just boring!

All the ingredients are listed on this handy site, and they have given butt paste a overall 2-4 score Which really is fantastic as the worst score is as high as 10, and really puts your mind at ease. I like to know what's going in things, but that's just the hippy in me I think!!!

For the love of FABRIC!!!!

Well hello there...
We have had a great day, it's been all about finding fab fabric, eating sausages (the boys!) and my sewing magazine coming in, the boys got to go to their wee playgroup too. Nap times were at a good time so, hoping for some knitting time later, as the boys might just go to bed earlier. We can but hope!

Now on to my Fabric finds....

I have had my eye on these flannel patterns for a while.... I love them they have such a vintage feel. And they were on sale! I will be using them to make fab pj's.

And these cottons WOW I love them, I think the boys will look brilliant in the Pants pattern when I have altered them... Can't wait to be honest, I think the will be very comfy and cute...

Also I got my sew mag this month.... Check out the free pattern I will be putting this in the to do make list. They also have a great section on hand stitching and a lovely wee read at the end for hats/headwear.

Made pants Trial #1

Well hello there, how is everyone??
I personally have had the best day, ignoring the usual tantrums as you do!! A lost ipod was found, Happifing mail arrived, pigeon post and email versions, I won on Ebay and I have a tidy house with ironing finished! To top it all off I got Dana's pants pattern done and modeled too!!!

I have entered a giveaway and made said pants.....
which leads us to "the shoot"!!!

I had to play with the settings a little on my camera.... This was the night portrait but unless your "subject" is completely still this is the effect!! Frazer was enjoying it though.

I found that the children setting was best, I was able to catch motion shots with no blur!! I do love that the joy of love... I have actually been investigating & learning!!

So this is my lovie in his MADE comfy trouser pattern.... Bearing in mind her boy is a skinny tall 3yr, and Frazer is 2 and 2.5 stones, then the pattern is in need of some altering.... I hope to have drafted a Frazer pant for tomorrow night.... He needs more room in the booty area, and some space for the thighs.

Whilst our photo shoot was going on, Finn was determined to get the jumper off himself! My independent wee boy huh!! He got there in the end.... Can't wait to get started on Finn's, then on to lining! I may run behind on this but, it will be a thing I can use over and over again!

Well hello there, how is everyone?
I have had a fantastic few days, Mr Phew was back, and we got a couple of nights out, which to be honest is a very rare thing, but hey that's what rearing kids is all about I'm sure! I got spoilt for Valentines.... A lovely jaunt out to my fave restaurant I do love the rocket & Parmesan salad YUMMY, a bunch of roses AND a gift that keeps giving...... Stitch magazine..... Do you know it???? The ever talented Ayumi from Pink Penguin has been featured in this ace magazine a few times and has the best tutorials for free I might add.... If you don't know Ayumi then let me tell you..... I reckon your missing out....Just go see!!!!!

So on to my creative space this week.....

I have dug out a old cardi that I started forever ago, some of you might recognize.... I have found my place in the pattern again thanx to a friend Anne and am off again!!

As for my Granny matties Scarf well it took a bit of humming and hawing. But I have decided to go for stitch No3 from the top (this one). I think I like this one best, so will be cutting out the scarf tonight and might even get the hems ironed down wish me luck!!!

I managed a few more hearts too!!

I am being a little naughty and starting a new project.... but it is for boy month!!! And the pattern is a freebie too and a print at home.... Very easy too so I'm on board!!!

So I have been playing with my sewing machine, I have to say I have only just found my mojo. I have been crocheting away this year, but my Adam has be snuggled away in his sewing cabinet, hoping to get a see some daylight.

I have been inspired into sewing again, by a small group of young mums.... Young mums you say, well it turns out Surestart, wanted me to come in and do a short course on the basics of sewing, with the group girls once a week. They will provide the child care for my boys and it is a voluntary placement, I am so happy to be involved in something so positive, the centre itself is fantastic and is a wealth of information and support if you are a parent with young kids under 4......

Now back to my Adam huh!!! I have dusted off his cobwebs of last year (not really but it has been 6 weeks since I looked at him!) And played with the stitches for granny matties scarf...... Do you have a fave stitch??? I have narrowed it down to 4!!!

From top to bottom I like number 3 & 9.....

And on this one I like 8 & 9.....

On another note, I have crossed 2 more things of the WIP list the above skirt and fab thrifted dress....

I might wear the dress tonight, as I'm heading for a rare night out. We are going to the CHAOS FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS.... It's a early birthday present for Mr Phew.... He's known we're going out for about 5 weeks, and hates surprises but I have managed it..... So he doesn't know where we are going, or the best bit, that I have managed to get 2 of his brothers to come too!!! I have booked a table for a us all too at The Gaslight Grill the food here is to die for and is cooked in a open kitchen, I like to see what the chefs are up to gives you more confidence in a kitchen.

Another week has gone by, and I have finished Finn's blanket.
How happy am I.... Very (just in case there was any doubt)!

I have started my valentines garland.... In purple of course and black, I can keep it in my room as a permanent feature to as my room is... No surprise here yes, you guessed it purple!!

Yes THEE scarf it's been in my WIP pile for a while....

I think I just love it so much I can't say goodbye!
BUT the time has come, it must be sent to it's new & loving home, my Granny Mattie's.

I managed to get 2 1/2 yards of linen for £10 which I was happy enough with... I do love linen too, it has such a lovely feel to it... Might have to see if there's enough left for a crafty apron of sorts!

I shall have Finn's blanket on Creative spaces on Thursday... I hope to have found just the right decorative stitch from my brother machine.... AKA Adam

And i have come to the conclusion that this lady here, does the most beautiful arranging it incorporates wire and beads, she also began my longing for the Calla Lilly, I mean look at the centre huh, I adore the purple centre, I hope to accentuate everything with purple on the day.

Photo magic Day #4

What they wear...

This was a fun one, as I had to look through the camera manual which I found online... I happened to keep my manual from a old camera! We were to look at metering I found out after 36 pages of a manual that mines was listed under a different name.... Exposure metering! I got there in the end.

So I only have a couple of pictures today where I can see I managed the metering to work I think this will be a work in progress... Metering basically means (I think) just different places within the photo being in focus.... So here is my attempt!!

I took a picture of what they wear.... Being a load of clean clothes, I played with the metering and got a photo of the boys in focus, and then their clothes, there are 3 options here Multi-zone, face priority & centre....As I said there was only a couple of pictures to show you. I couldn't see much difference in the others!

We were to capture our loved ones today and to show the change time has made... The change here is my boys are growing up oh so quick!!! Also we were to play with cropping!! I'm glad no quality was lost.

The TV go all the attention tonight... The above photos were taken with the candle light setting, I reckon they turned out good!!

And this shot well I'm not to sure what the setting was but it looks like I done work on it.... I didn't though.... I have enjoyed the last 3 days, it has made me investigate my camera and there are lots of options in the scenes menu, that I never knew existed!!

Well roll on tomorrow huh!! I have lots planed before the wind comes back!

I'm off for a cuppa and some true blood!!

This was the inevitable photo, all that cuteness, energy & smiles had to end in a fall, so here is the snuggle shot, pretty good to being I was stretching with one camera hand, and hugging with the other

This is my other wee boy Finn he is all tuckered out, he had a bad fall yesterday and wanted to sleep on the sofa, who am i to argue...

I am very proud of this photo as it is 11pm and has no flash... I would never have attempted a picture at night with no flash....

Is there any tips on this Eg no flash day or night?? Does the loved one have to be very still eg asleep to not have blurry mayhem???

Another week passed this seems to be happening quite a lot!!!!
Were did my week go?!?!?!?

I think most of it was because...

Poor wee Frazer has a chest and ear infection and is now on a anti-biotic, and Finn has run in to a door, giving himself the worst bump he has ever had..... I took him to see the nurse tonight, he is badly bruised and I have to expect more bruising, as the bottom teeth very nearly went through his top lip... he is so sore the wee dote. Lots of love, cuddles & fave movies I think....

So on to my lovely blanket... Well I say my blanket, really it's Finn's!

Here it is now.... I have 3 rows of the border done turns out I needed to do 5 DC, chain cont this has given me as flat as I'm going to get it I am more than happy and will defo have a proper unveiling next week..... I hope to have chosen a new project to to finish from this WIP list!

Well today was the first installment of joy of love....

Today, was all about using natural light inside and the loved one doing something, I am happy with my photos.

Men are a nightmare to buy/make for no? I have my mother-in law to think of too... I say have to, I don't but she has no one to buy for her... So I wanted to make her feel like she was remembered, she does everything for everyone. And really is just such a giving person, she deserves more than mothers day I say.... So, what have I found to make her??? Well I have been browsing and have come up with a few links....

Does your mum or mother-in-law drink tea? Mines does and is partial to a peppermint tea this wee tutorial is simple but shows you've taken the time... there's is one too same idea...

Walking again... And crochet update !

Hello there, hows your day going? We ventured out for a wee walk, the first really in the year.... It was bitter cold everything was bare. But there was a glimmer of life....

A robin the first I've seen all winter!
Imagine at the end of January... It's only when you stop looking too!
For some reason I always think of my dad when I see a robin. It makes me a person lost in my memories and thoughts of where people go after they have passed.

There was also many a mushroom sprouting...

And Finn very much enjoyed searching for them!

On the crochet front from this post...
I have made some head way, it took 3 hours of fiddling but, I have found the right amount of double crochets and chains to make it flat at the edges wweeee.... I can now get on with finishing the blanket. PS thanx a million for all who gave words of crochet wisdom and took the time to comment :)

Creative space #3

So another week has passed how did that happen? I feel like it has flown by.... But I do nearly have a sewing-room back after a rather brutal few days of order making! I hope to have it all done soon.

So Creatively I have been marching on with Finn's blanket, the main blanket is done.... Just the border to do now.

I have started it but I need a Yay or Nay from you guys.... Is it OK?
I personally think that the top, where I have done a double crochet x2 in each space (granny square-ish) Is causing it to have a slight kink/wave in the long sides of the border... Should I do a double crochet and a chain instead? Am I making sense? I hope so! Ah help! I am looking forward to getting on with the reverse single crochet!

I have to say the sides of the blanket looks just fine, and all that is, is the double crochet can you see the difference? I really wanted to get this done this week I reckon it is do-able. Do you lovely crochet readers have any suggestions? I really would love to hear them. I am longing to start another unfinished project!

This week, I am still marching on with Finn's blanket, I am so so looking forward to getting this one finished!! It has been a long project, with many a long break taken!! Finn was 3 years old in August, and now understands that the blanket will be his when i'm done. I can't wait for the boys to be more involved in what I make them.

Any of you talented people got any ideas on a border for this lovely blanket??
I would love some inspiration for the ending of this project!!

Location, location location.....

Another day of research for me....

Did you see this post well I have got to thinking already!

I have always wanted to get married, on a beach, no shoes, sunshine and my nearest and dearest there to see it all unravel.... Now I have kids and with this comes fear, fear of my wee boys well..... Drowning or being stolen to be honest! Yes this is very EXTREME I know, but my boys are my everything so safety is of the utmost importance, I am aware of the emotions running high, lots of people will be about and just as many things will be going on, and I just want to be happy in knowing I can be ecstatic on our day and know my children are safe. So I have re-think the venue to hold the wedding.....

This lovely white wash church has caused a involuntary sharp intake of breath...
(And eases my fear for the boys they are indoors and easier to maintain)

It is 45 mins From Malaga , in a town called Nerja, in Southern Spain, I have fallen for it, it's so well Spanish... I have heard nothing but good things about the area, the authentic Spanish feel, being the little potted window boxes, the cobbled streets, the cliff edge overlooking the Mediterranean sea, the lovely cafes, tapas bars,(the stunning white wash church of course) The promenade, the beach and well the bridal suite and hotel are said to be beautiful.... As well as a fantastic service and family friendly atmosphere too....

So this is on my LUST list for a location, I'm sure lots of people will be thinking "But why does she want to have it somewhere other than Derry" And I have to say yes I can understand such a question, as Derry is stunning, it's green landscape, our familiarity which induces comfort and last but by no means least, the chapel (St Eugene's) Has a large part to play within the family, but this question can be answered, with just as much ease.....

I have always had a little picture in my head of the floaty dress, sunshine and to be and to be honest the ability to relax enjoy it, and for it to be a little holiday!
(I hear all you already married ladies having a wee snigger "Yeah right Traci")

You see I myself am a only child, and my mother is from a family of 3..... My Mr Phew is a whole different kettle of fish, he is from a family of 5 and his Ma a family of 13.... I am petrified of all the people... Intimidated would be another word, I would feel I was on parade... I know that a wedding has a air of that but, yes there is defiantly a "Oh My God " feeling going on in my tummy! (And not about Mr Phew just to clear any doubt!!)..... I would like to remember everyone, I would like to have a intimate day, with floaty-ness (Being the dress) with sun, with flat shoes and maybe a ankle bracelet....

And what I most certainly WANT,
Is for us to be able to look in to one another eyes,
And it all to be about us,
I don't want it to be about the size of the party,
The expensive dress,
OR
The transport we use
It's not the event that is important
It's fact we've found one another.

Sorry if this has been a heavy post?!?!
I wanted to Log all my thoughts and links on the run up to the day

Recent obsession. Alice Lon - Petticoats

Well hello there, how are you all tonight, good Sunday???

I have had a fab Sunday.... I bought a few patterns from a lovely lady over in America... When they arrive I will write up a wee review, as I have found her to be most helpful and very cheap.

So other than the usual, housework & cooking I have been looking in to the....
PETTICOAT

And in particular the Alice Lon Petticoat

Isn't she just stunning.....

The petticoats she wore that had everyone talking, were not made by Alice but by her very lovely mother, as she explains in this interview. Along with a written tutorial.

But I managed to find this tutorial for the Alice's petticoat and it has pictures, I myself am much better with pics, I'm a visual gal!!

I found a couple of other tutorials too Sugardale, I have only just found and will catch up with reading her blog on later! Scarlet has a tutorial that looks good but the back ground kills me!

The Lovely Gertie has a video tutorial on her blog, with links to a anthro musing!

Do you know of any good patterns for the lovely Petticoat? I do sometimes wish we were back in the 50's, I mean they had such ace dress sense although the 30's can't be beat for exquisite clutches! OK OK that's for another post

Celebrations and vintage bags

So me and Mr Phew went for our Celebration dinner, it really was lovely, yummy food, no kids and no dishes.... I even managed to get a couple of vodkas in there too! It's just so nice to get a minute or a couple of hours like that, sometimes it's just all kids, also you always say we must go for a meal some time......when someone else buys the voucher (Pauline my friend gave it to us in a card) you have to use it!

So after our yummy meal we went to a wee bar,
check out the patch work seating cool huh!!

I was so pleased we got a little time to ourselves, but I also walked with a bit more of a spring in my step, as I got to take my vintage clutch out for a spin.... I mean look at her huh isn't she a bute!!

2011's first Creative space...

And well, it's all gonna be projects of 2010 I have not finished for a while. I have made a promise to myself to get all my WIP finished before I start anymore.... I have lots I want to start but, wait they shall!!

So here it is the blanket that was meant to be for Finn's Xmas.....
I really have been trying hard over the last few days get at least 1 row done a night, it is going OK....

Our wee Xmas

Well hello there, and welcome to our wee Xmas!!!

I went for a wander and cut some greenery, for centre piece which I thought turned out ace! I even managed to sort out the sewing cabinet at the back there, and make it festive like!!

For dinner we had lamb.... with this marinade YUMMY.... I will defo be having it again!!

Frazer had no problem with it either!!!
How cute is he in his wee hat!!!

I loved our Xmas morning, it was filled with bubbles and laughter...

And of course the we had to have the part of the day, when the boys had lots of fun with the box!!!

I was truly spoilt and got a go cutter, I really can't wait to get all the festivities done and dusted... I do enjoy them, a-lot but a GO cutter!! roll on normal routine says me!!!

So how was everyone Christmases???

Rummaging backdated.... & Frazer update too.

Well hello there hows everyone keeping on this snowy white Monday morning! I have the heating up, a cup of coffee in hand and a wee boy, Finn downstairs watching Bolt Yes at 5am! He is still having bad dreams about bees... Nothing a cup of milk, a hug and a good movie won't fix.

So it's all in the title! I have been very busy of late and have been merrily thrifting away, but alas no time to tell you all about it.... You see every 5am cloud has a silver lining! I can now share my fabby finds!

I was gonna save this one till last but I just can't! All of these yummy vintage finds were in one shop and on the same day SCORE!! A 3rd edition of The Great Escape, which i have not read but will be very soon, the friendship book is from 1955! I got another one which was 1979 I gave it to my friend Pauline as it is the year she was born and she loved it! The 2 books above are Phineas Finn it's a 2 part-er and I got both! I had to buy it, even though I had never heard of it, as well it's Finn's name and both books were there! The next book I found was Anyone Can Bake, the pics are so lovely a charming book for sure! And I saved the best book till last.... The Book Of Good Housekeeping, this book is like gold for me, I love it and shall no doubt share some more of this with you at a later date, as it really is a gem! I also got a Tchaikovsky record and some stunning doilies too! This really was a great trip out!

I had to show you a close up of this one, it really is stunning work! I might try to get a pattern made up!

I have recently been on a path of curiosity with cross stitch... I know that I will be a embroidery girl but, I love to dabble and to have the skill well... It can't be bad, it is a thing I have dipped my toe into in earlier years... I think it will be a good craft to have in my hand bag! The book on kids makes looks great, it has tents and all manners of fun things to do with the boys.

Now these are some quality goods, these were all in a bundle for £2, although the front books are or use with a knitting machine, I love the wee problem page and tips for Dining etc a real slice of 1957!

Now this lovely bundle is a thrifty bundle sent over from Scotland.... It's from my much loved granny Mattie.... How ace is she huh!! I really can't wait till next year I plan on getting over to see her and spending some quality time together... she is such a big part of my life. I love her to the end of the earth!
PS the apron was a buy of mines I plan on up-cycling it for our Christmas cook!

This is just a really big thanx to all who left such lovely comments on yesterdays post, they were all read and I am very thankful that you all care so much, so from the heart over her in northern Ireland me and my boys say a massive thanx for thinking of us.
Frazer is a little off form still but to be expected after his wee ordeal. fingers crossed he feels more his normal self soon

Where do I begin,

Frazer my youngest, has been iffy for the last few days, I thought he was just teething. But then he developed a terrible temperature... I dosed him up with calpol. But my wee was still very uncomfortable, I called the out of hours doctors, but could only give me a appointment for 2am, by then Finn my oldest, was asleep and Frazer was doing a little better, I felt I could wait till the next day to see how he was then.....

So after a rather tearful morning for my wee guy, I called the doctor and got a emergency appointment and managed to get one for early that afternoon.... The doctor took us in early as Frazer was very upset by this point, and I had chose to wait in the hall as to not annoy anyone in the waiting room. Our doctor done all the usual checks ears, nose throat and chest... But nothing came up to cause concern, the doctor looked as puzzled as me, I thought we would get up there, and get a anti-biotic and come home.

He proceeded to tell me that, Frazer was worryingly upset and that he felt I should go to the hospital.... He called a ambulance, and started to look for a rash checking his heart rate regularly and his temperature which went from 39-34-39 within 15 mins. I was asked to find someone to look after Finn whilst we were at the hospital. The doctor made me aware that with Meningitis, the rash could be one of the last symptoms.... I was having palpitations by this time as I was terrified I was going to loose my wee boy.

The ambulance arrived in no time, and with the atrocious weather we are having I never managed to get a sitter for Finn. Frazer passed out in the ambulance... We were then led to the childrens ward and quickly seen, I had to have Finn taken at this point, as he was becoming scared as Frazer had been roused, we were preparing to take his bloods & blood pressure. If you have ever had the misfortune of having to take your baby (Frazer is only 23months old) blood for tests, it really is one of the most horrific things to do, as he is scared, screaming, wondering what is going on and gripping on to you for dear life... We managed to get blood from the second location, which is very good and they gave him a anti-biotic intravenously at this point too. I was then given a room, for me and the boys to go too with a cot a bed and lots of toys.

I feel that someone must have been looking down on me and gave up a helping hand... I was terrified, as I thought I was going to lose my wee boy, I have never been as scared as i was waiting for the results. They all came back negative as well as the urine tests. It turns out that Frazer had a acute viral infection which induced the the temperature and the extreme pain he was going through, as it caused his skin to be and any physical contact to be near excruciating....

I have never felt so lucky, because he doesn't have meningitis and he is on the mend now and with the help of the doctors, the hospital staff and the ambulance men who arrived in fantastic time(due to the weather conditions I was surprised) They were able to diagnose him and ensure he was OK. Also you know who your friends are, My friend Pauline has a 4x4 she came and picked us up from the hospital, I have never been so pleased to see a friendly face, I broke down on her as soon as I seen her at the door. Pauline took us all to her home for a cuppa and a shoulder to cry on, she also made us all something to eat then gave me a glass of wine to calm my nerves. Her actions will never be forgotten, a real friend.

So like the title says
BE THANKFUL FOR ALL YOU HAVE.... AND HOLD TIGHT.

This is a fantastic site which all mothers should see, Knowledge is the key ladies... It's not just a rash you have to look out for... And even though Frazer dose not have Meningitis the acute viral infection meant Frazer had 7 of the symptoms.

Sorry for the heavy post, but I think it's my way of processing the last couple of days. To say they have been emotionally straining is very much a understatement.

Gertie's coat sew-along.... Still!!

Hello well I have lasted till now on caffeine.... Fingers crossed I make it till tonight.... What on earth is she talking about? My last post explains all!

I managed to get photos of my jacket for the sew-along Gertie was doing a while ago.... I have been as ever caught up, in my own little circle of life and laundry! I made the coat with a old curtain material as my muslin. Please ignore the strip of white fabric I cut it the wrong way!

I am happy with 95% of it ---BUT--- Yes you knew the 5% would be mentioned

It's the button whole, it's a 2-3 inches out....And now I need to alter it. It really does fit everywhere else like a glove!!
*Do I take in the princess seam??
*Do I just move the button hole??
*I thought about taking the excess of at the front but that would ruin the lapels!

So..... Here I am I've been up since 5 am, and not through choice!!
Yes the youngest is teething..... Can you tell?????

I would have to say NO!!
I mean look at the wee brute now! Running around having a good old laugh to himself! Amazing what the blessed calpol can do huh!

Well if anything, I have manage to got my chutney and cranberry sauce tubs decorated,

What do you think??
I am happy with them, could have done better bows, but hey it's very early!

Today me and the boys will be going to see Santa Clause, my friend will be picking us up, and I'm very much looking forward to it. I'm sure I'll share that later on. It turns out I still have say 30 mins of tidy time so I might get the hall done now... Aided with a Starbucks Christmas blend coffee!

Well hello there, how is everyone? I hope you are all filled with festiveness! I can say I most certainly am, between the cards arriving in the post and all and the Christmas Carols in the in the shopping centers... I love how the boys have brought the magic back!

Today has been great, I got a wee run round town, my friend Pauline came for a quick coffee and last but most certainly not least.......

I got my cranberry sauce finished.

Also I got my undelivered mail and it was my secret Santa gift.... I am bursting to open it, but I love a surprise, so have put it under the tree!

I was playing around with the camera again... Think I might just be getting the hang of it! Either that or my boys are just too cute!! (sorry gush gush!!!)

So to the end of a rather ace day..... Cheers.... (I say with my cup of coffee, which I hope will aid me in my tidy up needed in the hall! wish me luck!)

So today has been filled with washing, drying & a lot of ironing..... And I mean a lot! I am Oh so glad to see the end of it for today! I am also glad the electrician came and fixed the blessed dishwasher..... Yes the hippie in me hated it, but yes time is short in child rearing, and if a machine can do a job, then I'll be paying the electric to aid it!

So with my gained time I got my chutney done, and there is a little more than expected so ALL my friends really will be getting chutney!!

I have to say the boys were very quite....
While I was making this lovely chutney.....

It turns out the wee devils, had every jacket, shall & housecoat in the house on the floor to
play hide & seek!

And I had to add this one as Frazer is just too cute!

2010 Advent Blog~a~long #4

Today has been a very successful day, we ventured out (in a taxi) to my local shopping center, I managed to pic up some tubs, for a boxing day chutney & a cranberry sauce I will be making tomorrow. I reckon, that they are going to be a fab extra gift for all my friends this year. I'll see how they go down and I might do a chutney every year! Handmade stockings and chutney for everyone I say!!

Before we headed out I got the boys wrapped up and had a bit of fun in the snow, and some drain sorting, as they were very blocked.... Check out all that ice!!

Also I got the opportunity to have a quick photography moment... I love the pictures I got they look ace!

All-in-all I very much enjoyed my day of prep-ing, playing & relaxing... And find it very Happifiying that all 3 can be done in the same day.

So it was another day filled with the white stuff, and is still as I type this post falling!

My street got a visit from the snow plow today and even got a bit of grit!
I have to say I was super excited, as I was able to get down to the shops!
I wasn't lying about needing the bread and milk yesterday.... It was quite a hike back up and the drivers were a mixed bag, some were very nice others were just plain rude. I mean I was pushing a double buggy, let me tell you it ain't a easy task in this weather!

Before we headed out, I got the boys to work on the Christmas cards...
I love letting them get all arty, think I might keep one for my memory box.
Very chuffed with them... and what little mess they made!!

As the title says I just had to share....

I have been lusting after this dress, ever since the catalog came through my door.... It's so cute and I would say forgiving to the lumps and bumps. I have been on quite a vintage colour pallet for some time, so when I seen this almost rose coloured crushed velvet I thought of my lust worthy dress! I have another dress to finish first (and have sworn myself to a fabric shopping ban.... Well at least till I get my WIP/UFO pile down a little!!) But this little rose dress will be made for the party season.

So I have the tree up..... Wooohooo, I feel so Christmasy now!

I have found a new lease of life when it come's to the 25th of December...

The Boys have brought Santa Clause Back....
I have really enjoyed the last 2 Xmases, but this year Frazer will get more out of it . I have most of the shopping done, but am going to a bit more thrifting to see if I can find any more vintage loveliness...

Although I might just be pushing it as I got the red Ribbons & Santa's for my tree! I have lots of other bits to show you but I have no photos of them yet.

Do you see the wee Thomas stockings on the sofa.... They are my first attempt at free motion quilting, I will be getting them all put together some time this week and get them hung..

So how are your preparations going??

Do you have a Garland to buy/make? Why not make one with Tif's tutorial all you need is a jumper!!

It has been 14 days since my last post...

A lot has happened....
My best friend came over for a visit,
I finished true blood S2,
I got my teeth fixed,

I had the best birthday ever, and was spoilt rotten, knitted scarf and hat from my granny, new boots, new jacket and so much more from the my family and friends.....

All-in-all, I have been a happy and busy lady of late.....

Blogtoberfest Jet-lag recovery!!!

Well hello way over there...

So yes I have been MIA for 2 weeks shame on me!
I seem to have been suffering from Blogtoberfest jet-lag!!!
To say I was exhausted is a understatement!!
But I think the mojo may just have been found, with the aid of the lovely Michelle from midge & judy.

I recently took part in The Great Stocking Swap 2010 over @ Selinas.
I had great fun with this as I got a friend for my partner :o) And the stocking I got back well you can judge for yourself!!

I can only say a massive thanx to Michelle, I mean the work that went in to this stocking.... I love it thanx so much....

Not only that but look at my wee boys faces when they opened their pressies..You hit the nail on the head, I mean look at them well chuffed!!! A woman after my own heart...To make me smile with a stocking then make my boys happy too... Gush Gush Gush....
I could not have asked for a better partner!!

I am hoping that my mojo hang around and the kids give me a little time....!

Day 31---Mwha the end is here!!

So it's the 31st.... Halloween!!! And the end of our Octoberfest.

It has been Harder some days, than others to write.... Hopefully I've not bored any of you too much!! And hopefully some of you stay around for a while!!

So what have I learned this.... My first Octoberfest??

Well it appears I'm always trying to sew, I set goals I tell myself are realistic!!! but really I'm all about my kids..... I know my time will come, and I will make a living out my sewing skills but right now.... My kids are my everything.. As they always will be, I shouldn't wish for more hours in the day (to sew) I should appreciate every min with the boys, as time passes so fast and soon it'll be "Don't walk me to school mum" and lots of door slamming!!!!

Talking again of the boys..... We went to the park this morning.... So glad we took a towel the park was wet wet wet!!! But all worth the smiles all round

I would like so Thank all you lovely readers out there followers and browsers alike!! I do write this blog to gush about my kids, and catalog my crafting adventures.... But it's nice to know that I am worthy of a wee read, every now and then.....

I shall be hosting a giveaway by the end of the day kids permitting!!!
And tying up a few loose ends
so stay tuned....

Day 29-30---Network failure & Pumpkins

Hello there, so I missed yesterday post as BT's network had a failure and only came on today.... Unimpressed yes but hey... S**t happens!!!

So tonight ......

Me and the boys have been pumpkin making, for our Halloween celebrations.....

We made all our Decorations earlier from print-outs, I used teddy bear stuffing for cobwebs... The cup was only 30p from a thrifting adventure!!

Our door is fairly welcoming if I do say so myself!!

Our pumpkins are done.... Well one to do but the night is getting on and I'm shattered!!

Day 28---Halloween begins

Hello there
Me and the boys met up with a friends today and headed out to a So called "party"!!!!! Oh my so glad the boys enjoyed all the free space!!! As it turned out to be a gym hall with no music, decorations or anything much near Halloween-ey!!!

Both the boys were dressed up as spiders!!

Finn is super cute in this pic!!

And Frazer is perfecting his pout.... I think he's coming on well.... He'd give Posh a run for her money!!!!

We have friends coming over tomorrow for lunch and painting, and more Halloween fun planed for over the weekend, can't wait to get the pumpkin done!!

Day 27---My creative stocking-athon!!!

So today's creative space is all about stock and stockings....

It's a bit of a conveyor belt, but it's only 4 days till I'm meant to be you know open and running!!!

Day 26---Prep

I seem to be lost of words tonight, either that or my writing skills have left me!!!

Tonight I am prep-ing for my wee shop... (On the right there!!)
It is scarily close to opening and I am soooo not ready!

Day 25---I'm a happy winner

Today the postman came with gifts!!!!
OOOOHHHH how I love waiting rather impatiently for a parcel,
I mean look at the lovely wrapping too!

I recently entered a giveaway over at " The Sewing Directory" And I won ribbon Goodies from "Seamstar" Which I must add is a fantastic site well worth a look I will be there for more ribbon thats for sure!!

These wee ribbons will be put to good use I have plans already.... Stockings!!

I also got a wee bag of oddments too just because!! With a rather helpful flyer too, this will be going on my pin-board!

Day 24---PMA

Hello there, how's your Sunday been?
Mines has been filled with motivation... Today I Decided to take charge of my dairy! I am constantly forgetting stuff...

And to think, I thought the diary being purple would aid me in the upkeep too!

I have been working on Santa sacks, please ignore the corners I have still to push them out!

And I have to share our "starry night reward chart" with you.... I have to say that this chart has been so simple and really effective. I am still attending The Nurturing Program and I have to say it's good I'm using a more age appropriate way of dealing with the kids.... And they love the star chart a lot! Now bath-time is so much less stressful as is brushing hair and teeth!!!

Day 23---A proud day!!!

So today me and the boys went up town for a wander,
It has to be said I myself had the hardest time....
I mean all the sales all the shinny, there was so much I really wanted to buy, and this was me looking from the outside in... I say I was brave but I never entered the wealth of bargain-ness, I have to say I might just have buckled under the pressure!

Dorthy Perkins has to be my fave shop... Its generally affordable and has lots of styles, I especially like their Knit wear and tops. Why do you ask did I not go in and feast amongst the yummy sale-ness.... Well because of out dearest Dottie's utmost challenge... I started back in May... It's been 5 months and a day.... Some people get the 5 year itch I think I just got the 5 month itch! And my god was I itchy!

All that being said I now have the the last shove to get this dress finished, as well as a few other UFO's. I have enjoyed my utmost challenge so far, it has stopped me just buying for the hell of it and when I think about it.... I done that quite a bit, sort of made the trip up town more exciting worthwhile... Crazy really..... Now i have more to spend on fabric and more time to walk with the boys and sew!

After my sale-ness moment, me and the boys headed to their Fave part of the shopping centre....

A bunch of flowers by Janice Maxwell

Spring time in Mount Stewart Gardens depicted in patchwork & applique accentuating the flower colours.
"I liked this one as the colours were nearly neon!!"

Fiery red by Sheila Ferguson

There is always a explosion of colour during the summer and autumn months in the garden. I hope my reds do it justice. This piece was hand appliqued and machine quilted.
"I hope one day to be able to applique so well"

It would appear that in my excitement i missed the plaque underneath so nothing from the quilter here, but i have to say the trees are so nice.

Sole music by Margaret Mehaffey

I have always admired the parquetry of the music room in Mount Stewart. A photograph of the floor in "buildings of North County Down" By CBE Brett inspired me to try & turn the design in to a quilt using cut back and applied applique using a sewing machine.

"Personally I was sold straight away.... you guessed it, it's purple!"

Drumlins by Molly Taylor

The Drumlins of County Down were the inspiration for this wall hanging. The blues and greens reflect the colours seen around Mount Stewart Gardens. It has been appliqued and heavily machine quilted in bright threads and embellished.
" I really liked the bright threads in this one"

Well thats part 2 over I hope you have the time to have a wee peek at the links there's a couple of good ones there.... Part 3 will come quicker I promise!!! I think I will keep the best till last, and do a 4th post of my 2 fave quilts they really are great.

THE DREADED BUTTON HOLE

Well it's actually not all that scary!!!
Especially if you have this beauties

I mean check out my freshly done buttonholes!!! So chuffed
It's all down to this tutorial...
This lady not only shows you how to do a buttonhole with the proper foot but shows you how when you've lost your foot too!!! She also has about 15 other tutorials up there... I will defo be watching another day!!

Day 19---Halloween prep

So me and the boys have been making our own Halloween decorations today....

I have been sourcing print outs for the boys to paint, and on rainy days we have been getting all arty!! Today we were sticking the "art" to card board, we'll glue it to some string and hang it at the door.... I love the fact having kid's gives me the excuse to be artsy, and not buy all the crap that comes with yet another holiday!!
I shall get pics up when our door is all arty!!

Day 18.1---Night-shift crafter!!

Of late i have been questioning my ability to create/sew.....
I know i can sew, I don't mean that... I mean sewing/kids/housework/life!!! I have given up on the latter for a while.... And I'm thinking that I was a bit presumptuous that I would be able to open a shop now...

That being said, I feel I have to try a bit of night-shift sewing to see if, it is in fact possible to juggle the above!!!

Day 18---Stocking pattern done

By the title you may think big deal huh......
I was of the thinking the very same, a quick scribble would have done it!!!!

More the fool me, this lovely stocking....
Took me an 1h 15mins to get semi right.....
I still think i need to shorten the foot bit & thin it out too????
I'm fishing for an opinion there!!!
Constructive criticism welcome.....

I really wanted to make a stocking that had a nod towards vintage... With the slightly pointed toe & a bit of a heel too it. Reckon it should stand out from all the straight rounded toes out there!!!!

Well I'm off to start stitching in the ditch!!!!

Amended - I have decided to shave a 1/2 inch off the foot.... It has made all the difference

Day 17---Stencils & sore ears

Today has been a little hectic...

Both boys were up at between 3-4am, with temperatures,
I'm glad Finn is able to tell me whats wrong, as I've been scratching my head, wondering whats been up with Frazer for the last 4 nights.... Finn mentioned a sore ear... So off to the out of hours and I have got a anti-biotic.

Alas Finn was crying just now, and he is now down stairs with juice and a cookie!!!! Oh how i make my own problems..... And i hear myself say aawwhh but he's ill.... I shall pay for such love next week!!!!!

I did manage a bit of craftiness today, I have got my Patterns/stencils sorted out so now i have got them on some cardboard.

Running a little late tonight ......
That has been my calling for the last few days huh!!

I have eventually made a decision on the lining for my dress..... Those who know me will not be surprised, that it shall of course be purple!!! I think it will look brill!!

Also the postman brought me my lavender today, so I can get on with making my lavender hearts.

Day 15---Crochet & christmas

Well hello there

Hows your day been????
I done a bit of internet shopping....

I picked up these.......
What are they you say huh?!?!?!?!
They are the snappers for inside Christmas crackers!!!

I also met a friend for coffee today.....

I have been enlisted to crochet the a couple of cardies, not to sure about the quality of the baby blue..... but the navy blue looks great OK. The gray and red are for a pram blanket!! When I will find the time I really don't know, she's not due for 6 weeks so wish me luck!!!!!!

Day 14---Making my own traditions

So I am just back form, a super quick jaunt up town!!

I seen these and could not resist....

Advent calenders for the boys.... Think I'll fill the pockets with little chocolate coins.....
I love the thought of a bit of tradition... What better way to start but with a Advent calender that come out every year... it can grow with them!!!

I also got some new Xmas fabric, cord & fun fur!!!!

I will not be going anywhere near any of these lush fabrics till I have finished @ least a couple of these projects!!

Day 13---Todays creative space!!

We're early this week huh!!!

This weeks creative space is a bit of everything.....

a coat muslin - on the back of the chair there
A Xmas tutorial - up front
A quilt - behind Adam AKA the sewing machine
More crayon rolls - beside the sewing machine

I have to say i am super proud of myself for eventually getting my ass in to gear... see the pin board there above Adam.... I have been meaning to put him there for at least say 2-3 months!!!! I am patting my self on the back right now!!!

And am about to go drink that hot coffee sans the kids in bed :o) Which means this amme AKA mummy can sew!!!
