Some park action & a new crochet project in the usual spot.. Blogtoberfest #5

Good evening all

I'm running a bit later today.. It's been a fabulous day with a couple of hectic bumps along the way!!! The boys had a great day at school, they came home with smiles and gold stars ~ Very proud mummy alert!! My wee super stars :)

Finn having no fear of heights!!

We had a lovely time at the park today too.. I have to say, I don't think I'll ever grow out of going real high on the swings. Me & Finn love to share the swing he sits on my knee, facing me hugging so tight screaming "higher mummy" I love it.. he's so full of laughter.. He's infectious!!!

Frazer seems to have no fear of heights either coming down this big slide!!

After all our fun at the park we had a lovely wander home, I found a easier way home today too.. By easier I mean less hills. Derry is full of hills, and it must be bad if I notice... I'm from Edinburgh and we have mountains there! Anyways we got home done our homework, then a Little art. I so love sitting down with the boys and getting lost in their imagination.. The stories that go with their drawings are brilliant! a kids mind is a wonderful thing!!

After all that they boys went off to play, I got 5 loads of laundry done and hung!! Check me out ~ Patting myself on the back right now :) I even managed to get my windows cleaned today too!! After all this productivity, the plumber/electrician came by. I had a list of things that needed done.. There was a battle of fuses, floods & confusion BUT the end result is DRUM ROLL PLEASE... I have a toilet that flushes, a boiler that works and radiators that are hot!! Now that is a fab non sewing Ta-Da!!!

*****

So tonight sitting on my lovely rocking chair, I have been cosied up beside my fire starting a new crochet project.. A hot cuppa in hand and my gingernut biscuits not too far away!! A perfect end to a very nearly perfect day.

I hope everyone has had a great Monday and has spent it with people they love.. there is no greater gift..

And now for a little beading.... Blogtoberfest #3

And I'm on a roll!!

This is Blogtoberfest post #3...

If your a regular here at chez Traci, you may have noticed my flavour of this month is Beading...

I have become a little partial to it.

It started here with this fold-over clutch.... I have to say it is super fiddly (having the right size needle defo helps) It is very time consuming too, but I do think that the end result is well worth it. And it is very therapeutic!

I have added beads to my crochet here... There seems to be no end to the simple bead adding Pizazz to crafty projects.

This is my latest beading adventure... So what do you think???

This is going to be another lavender heart, I just followed the pattern of the fabric, and used the beads from my stash... I think this would be a worthy craft for my/your hand bag.. It takes up very little room, and could be done anywhere. A little plate or bowl would be a advantage though saves the beads going everywhere!!

I'm off now to do a little housework... I feel it maybe getting slightly neglected!!

Sewing class & crochet TaDa AKA Creative space (Blogtoberfest#1)

Hello there.. New readers and old... I welcome you both with open arms!!!

So this is my first (yes I'm late!!) BLOGTOBERFEST post, This year blogtober is being held over at I Saw You Dancing where Kat is hosting this year, to give our vetron Cathy over at {tinniegirl} a much deserved break, Giveaway goodness is still over with Cam at Curlypops...

Blogtoberfest is held on October and is a chance to meet other bloggers and get you blogging up to full speed (for me anyways!!) That means a blig post a day... I have been at a low seep of say 1 post every 4 days. So I'm shaking things up around here... So on to the post!!

How is everyone???

We are great here, the boys are happy at school/nursery and I am loving school too!! I am now officially back in learning. I am studying Garment Making as well as Accountancy & finance, I am going to find the latter a challenge but the Garment Making is brilliant I just love it. I am oh so inspired, it's so good to be surrounded by like minded souls! Everyone abuzz with ~ Oh where did you get that fabric? ~ What a lovely pattern ~ How long have you been sewing....

The class is for 2 hours. So it wasn't all chatting, I managed to get some sewing done... Now this has been in the stash for sooooo long both fabric (Michael Miller if I remember rightly) & Amy Butler pattern.

I am proud I was able to get the fabric match so well with the darts, I have to say I was a little worried!!

I am loving the darts... But am aware I need a tailors ham or a good tutorial for one?!?!?

*****

Now for my crochet TaDa...

This has been a frustration but highly rewarding project.. I have to say I got just a little board of it I like a project with a less repetitive air about it!!!

I really enjoyed putting in the beads... It's my first time adding beads to a crochet project, I would defo recommend it. It gives the project that little bit of flair!!

This is the back view..

Look at how yummy it is!!!
The pattern is by Erika knight ~ Beaded Cobweb Wrap
The wool is Debbie Bliss ~ Party Angel
You can find me on ravelry Handmadehappiness

I have to say I think this was SOOO worth the work, and my mother in-law loves it!! It is a belated birthday present. I have a beaded lavender heart on my sewing table.. I plan on making a drawstring dust bag for the wrap.. Any good tutes you know of?!?!?

If your enjoying the crafty good~ness here check out some more Creative spaces here...

Oh my embelished heart!!!

Well hello and good morning.

How is your Monday going?? It's mostly dry over here in Derry. The boys are in nursery/school, it is Finn's first full day, and Frazer is now in till 11.15am... Freedom AKA sewing time is defo nearer. I am super excited that I start my Garment making course this week it will be so good to be around like minded souls.. Roll on Wednesday I say!!!

*****

As you all know I have been Crocheting away for the last couple of weeks (At least!) I have a vague TaDa here... Not the greatest pic but, you can see the beading a little here. I will be getting a better pic this afternoon..

So to go with this lovely Wrap (Erika Knight~Beaded Cobweb Wrap)....

I have been rummaging through my beads again...
I have a little helper there at the back do you see?!?!?

And I got this fabric forever ago.... It was £3.50 for 2 meters of cotton, It is to die for. I love it, it has a whole I'm vintage feel about it, it's so not vintage but it defo looks the part!!

This is the end result of my beading... I am making a lavender heart. I think the fabric/beads will be just the right partnership for the wrap.. I am pretty chuffed with is all. I plan on making a drawstring bag to put said wrap in. All I need now is a lovely card... As I may have mentioned, this is for the boys granny (Ma) it was meant to be for her birthday but alas... I am late!!! I think it's a pressie worth waiting for!

So what do you think of my beading adventures?!?!? And does anyone know any good links to a lined drawstring tutorial?!?!?

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE :)

The endless Cobweb Wrap!!!

Good morning everyone...

How are you?!?!?!

I am good, Boys are settling in to nursery/school. It seems so easy to say, but some kids are having a hard time in their class.. I think I am blessed really, I have to say my nose was a little out of joint, I mean I asked Finn for a kiss before I left him in to school the other day, his reply was "No mummy I'm fine, see you later!" I had a pang of oh my wee boy!!! But now in hindsight it's a very good thing!!

Now on to my "Endless Cobweb Wrap"
This is a present for the boys granny AKA "Ma" It was meant for her birthday but to be honest it's been a labour of love/hate!! It's taking FOREVER.. I know it will be well loved, and I will be super pleased when it's done... I just wish it was nearer done than it is!!!

I have to say I'm loving the mohair/silk mix, it feels Divine ~ Debbie Bliss Party Angel £7.95. The colourway is so nice, it has a total vintage feel to it and with the gold shimmer, it's going to be good for special occasion's too...

I have been carrying it everywhere, trying to squeeze in a row here and there ~ Even the library isn't safe!!

I did enjoy the clod night last night though, as it gave me a reason to have the fire lit... What beats crocheting by a open fire on such a blustery night?!!? Not much in my book..

So what's everyone else up to??

Do you have a project your loving to hate at the min??

Do share!!

Flowers for me... (bunting making & crochet worth drooling over)!

Hello there..

How is everyone today?!?!?

I am a happy bunny, I'm back to my blogging best again. I can't wait to get the boys in to school in the morning to get typing!!

Today is a mixed bag of my handsome wee boys.. They are growing oh so quick!!

How cute are they!! I never thought I'd be so happy to receive a pee the bed AKA a Dandelion. A simple yellow weed and a big smile.... Makes me the happiest mummy around!!
The boys picked them whilst we were out for a walk along the line just outside our house. I love that we have such scenery a stones throw from the house!

I have been sewing away too, this is a bunting in the making and has been made using a pair of pink linen trousers, that didn't fit anymore... I have a few wonky flags but it's my first attempt. Why is it sewing in a straight line seems to evade me!!!! Does this happen to you too?!!?

I just had to show you this... I was watching The Middle the other day and I seen this crochet blanket, Now tell me out there... Do you LOVE it ?!?!? I had to share I ADORE it!! So simple but brilliant. I think if it was made in Halloween colours it would be a total hit! I think I'm just gonna head on past Halloween this year and get my handmade Christmas list started.... I have a few patterns ready for cutting. I just have 2 projects to finnish then I'm on the Christmas trail!!

Hope your all having a fab Monday...

Now on to my crochet... I have been plowing away making a Cobweb wrap, I am making it for the boys granny. Her birthday is looming ever closer! It's a very simple pattern I found it in a Essential Crochet. I am using Debbie Bliss Party Angel, it's expensive @ £7.95 a ball and I am on ball 4, and need 2 more.. But I am all about the sentiment not the price, plus granny will defo like it! I have 8 days to finish it... It's a very easy pattern BUT very time consuming, I am enjoying it but am looking forward to moving on!!

I think this will be my next project it's from the same book, it's called A Satin Lingerie Case.. It is so sweet, I love it. I think it would be a present for me! it's all done on a 1.25/1.75mm needle so yet another labour of love!

I hpoe everyone is having a relaxing Sunday

Stash bustin on the wool front!

Oh dear I have been a bad blogger!!!

SORRY

I do have a vauge good excuse though...
I have been stash busting and stock growing, I plan to open a shop in November when my wee guys head off to school and are in full time. I also need to make some room in the newly made sewing room!! When I did go in to the new sewing room, I found a bin bag of wool. I mean how did I end up with so much?!?!?! I thought I only hoarded fabric! Alas it seems not... So I got to a little crocheting.

This is what I have come up with so far - 1 circle scarf/snood, 5 flowers 6 wash cloths and 32 giant granny squares...

 Aren't these just yummy looking!!
MmMmMmMm...
They are made with 100% pure cotton, I just love 'em.

I reckon my granny squares are gonna be chunky blankets, I have used 3 different strands and a 12mm hook. They are so lovely I might find it difficult to let go of!!

So what do you think of the colour combinations?!?! I can't wait to show you them all made up. Is anyone else planning shop openings or craft fairs this year?!?! Or are you just trying a little stash busting?!?!?

I'm off to watch spiderman AGAIN!!!! When my boys decide they like a movie they never tire watching it over & over & over!!

HAPPY SUNDAY PEEPS!

Little of this and a little of that!!

 Hello there peeps

It's been a few days since my last post... It's been busy over here at chez Traci :D
The house is very nearly sorted.... Have to say I have had a mixed bag of emotions. I love the house but it's a little strange, Getting used to being on my own after the boys are away to bed, is going to take some getting used to. It's all evolution i suppose!

I have to say the new fire is definitely helping..
Do you have any ideas on how to decorate?? I want to get a little handmade loveliness going on but have hit a creative wall!!

I spent the other night doing a few more crochet flowers for my friend, she gave me some ends and asked for embellishments, she's a knitter and loves these!!!!
We had a great day on the way to school the other day...

Finn just couldn't wait to get home to get his superman costume on!! Look at him I'm sure he's gonna break hearts!!! :) Love you Finn :)

I hope you are all keeping well.... And are having better weather than we are here in dreary Derry.... So much rain and grey skies.

Portstewart Fun

Hello....

This is a fore warning, this is probably going to be the longest post ever. Especially when we were only away for 3 days but it's going to be well worth the read/look even just to see the beach!

We left on the Sunday being mothers day, I have to say the boys were more excited about the train ride than the holiday it's self!! It was such a lovely day the sun was splitting the sky... And for the first weekend in ages. We were blessed by the sun giver that's for sure!!

The view's on the train were fantastic... The boys were looking for the Fat Controller the whole time too!! Just as they were about to get board they both feel asleep!

I loved the decor all handcrafted!!!
I worked out how to do this blanket and shall do a wee tute on it later..

There was so much crochet...

We had a furry visitor too... Finn was ever patience and was rewarded too, the cat came and stayed with him for ages!

We done a little baking....
The best bit is always licking the spoon!!

My Mother's Day flowers as picked by Finn!

When we got to the cottage (Detached twee house... Which I loved!) The lady Liz was lovely and oh so very helpful, we headed to Tesco to get the shopping in... It was a lovely wee walk and a little exploring was done too. When we got back I got the pj's out and we watched the Incredable's as promised with the fire lit. It was just as I expected... Davine!

Yum Yum....

We went to the infamous Morelli's it's a family run ice cream parlour, which has just celebrated it's 100th year by setting a world record! The ice cream is so lovely. Even if it does give you head freeze!

The boys had a ball at the park by the promenade... Frazer is getting more adventurous too!

You can tell spring is on it's way.... Look at the lush bloom's!
Never fails to put a wee smile on my face...

The beach, in fact the whole town is so so very clean... I mean no litter anywhere, People have so much respect for Portstewart it is so refreshing to see. There were very little shells which the boys found disappointing until we got the cars out that is!! I was amazed at how flat and it was I have to say it is one of the nicest beaches I've seen.

The view form the promenade

A wee pond!!!

The boys having a wee snack!

A lovely cove....

The sun splitting the sky...

1....2....3.....

WWWWEEEEEE....
It was a little windy whilst there!!!

The boys playing cars...

Trying to get them both to pose at the same time is a thing I have to master!

Finn on a wander, that's Portstweart there in the background!

I would defo recomend Portstewart for a short break, there's a little to do.... But this is what I went for some R&R! There are lots of places to eat out and a club that people give rave reviews about! For a family with young children this is a place to visit.
