Sewing class with a vintage bonus... + winning the overlocker over!! Blogtoberfest #25

Morning peeps

Well it's another quickie but..... it is a very productive one! (I have my Accountancy course today)

I had said that my swing class was a little "relaxed" for my liking but I have to say I am sewing soooo much more at home... Which is defo a knock on effect, in a very positive manner!!!

I have managed to sort out the tension problem :D on the overlocker..

I'm well on my way with the lined pockets for my Amy Butler jacket.... I'm also making a new set of pj's and attempting the placket... I normally omit this but I want to challenge myself!! I plan on blanket stitching on a bit of applique lettering too.

*******

Now on to my fab fab new patterns.... These were given to me by my sewing teacher, She felt I would get a better use out of them!!! I just have to find a good soures for getting them sized right....

Do you have any good sources for re~sizing patterns?!?!!? I'm thinking Gertie might have all the answers!!

Till tomorrow peeps...
(more creative peeps here)

Today the to do list is massive sorry for the rush post!!

HAPPY THURSDAY

Sewing class & crochet TaDa AKA Creative space (Blogtoberfest#1)

Hello there.. New readers and old... I welcome you both with open arms!!!

So this is my first (yes I'm late!!) BLOGTOBERFEST post, This year blogtober is being held over at I Saw You Dancing where Kat is hosting this year, to give our vetron Cathy over at {tinniegirl} a much deserved break, Giveaway goodness is still over with Cam at Curlypops...

Blogtoberfest is held on October and is a chance to meet other bloggers and get you blogging up to full speed (for me anyways!!) That means a blig post a day... I have been at a low seep of say 1 post every 4 days. So I'm shaking things up around here... So on to the post!!

How is everyone???

We are great here, the boys are happy at school/nursery and I am loving school too!! I am now officially back in learning. I am studying Garment Making as well as Accountancy & finance, I am going to find the latter a challenge but the Garment Making is brilliant I just love it. I am oh so inspired, it's so good to be surrounded by like minded souls! Everyone abuzz with ~ Oh where did you get that fabric? ~ What a lovely pattern ~ How long have you been sewing....

The class is for 2 hours. So it wasn't all chatting, I managed to get some sewing done... Now this has been in the stash for sooooo long both fabric (Michael Miller if I remember rightly) & Amy Butler pattern.

I am proud I was able to get the fabric match so well with the darts, I have to say I was a little worried!!

I am loving the darts... But am aware I need a tailors ham or a good tutorial for one?!?!?

*****

Now for my crochet TaDa...

This has been a frustration but highly rewarding project.. I have to say I got just a little board of it I like a project with a less repetitive air about it!!!

I really enjoyed putting in the beads... It's my first time adding beads to a crochet project, I would defo recommend it. It gives the project that little bit of flair!!

This is the back view..

Look at how yummy it is!!!
The pattern is by Erika knight ~ Beaded Cobweb Wrap
The wool is Debbie Bliss ~ Party Angel
You can find me on ravelry Handmadehappiness

I have to say I think this was SOOO worth the work, and my mother in-law loves it!! It is a belated birthday present. I have a beaded lavender heart on my sewing table.. I plan on making a drawstring dust bag for the wrap.. Any good tutes you know of?!?!?

I had a great day yesterday, not only did I get to Cath kidston, I also got in to Abakhan fabrics where I got some more t-shirt fabric! I am on a mission to conker my  Toyota Overlocker I have had it for so long, but appear to be afraid of it!!!!

A question.... is this only for pj's?!?!?!

This will be used for my I will wear it in public challenge!

On a Active Creative space.... I have been published, I know little old me!!!! I am so chuffed.

There is a wealth of inspiration there...

My article was all about Earth day, I had a rummage through my stash and found the ideal fabric for a market bag! There are lots of links to tutes for your own market bag in my article.... :) Please do comment below and let me know what you think.... I would love to hear good bad and ugly!!!

I'm glad my top stitching is getting better! Just shows you practise does make perfect.

Creative space #7

Well hello there, I missed my creative space last week. Another week gone, I have to say creatively I've been a bit meh, Mr Phew was back for a couple of days so it took a step back! I have been messing about with the pattern alterations for my big butt pants, with a big thanx to Amanda from kitchycoo I now have a pattern to fit Frazer which is in the process!!!

The fabric is a up-cycled bed sheet!! I think it will be spot on when it's done!

I was out shopping today too, now that I know we are going on holiday in a few weeks, I had to grab a few bits.... I never really wear blue, I should really like it, as it's as close as you can get to purple!! So I picked this pattern I reckon i'll go for the blue one it's strapless so less tan lines!!!

Creative space #6

Well hello there, how is everyone?
I have had a fantastic few days, Mr Phew was back, and we got a couple of nights out, which to be honest is a very rare thing, but hey that's what rearing kids is all about I'm sure! I got spoilt for Valentines.... A lovely jaunt out to my fave restaurant I do love the rocket & Parmesan salad YUMMY, a bunch of roses AND a gift that keeps giving...... Stitch magazine..... Do you know it???? The ever talented Ayumi from Pink Penguin has been featured in this ace magazine a few times and has the best tutorials for free I might add.... If you don't know Ayumi then let me tell you..... I reckon your missing out....Just go see!!!!!

So on to my creative space this week.....

I have dug out a old cardi that I started forever ago, some of you might recognize.... I have found my place in the pattern again thanx to a friend Anne and am off again!!

As for my Granny matties Scarf well it took a bit of humming and hawing. But I have decided to go for stitch No3 from the top (this one). I think I like this one best, so will be cutting out the scarf tonight and might even get the hems ironed down wish me luck!!!

I managed a few more hearts too!!

I am being a little naughty and starting a new project.... but it is for boy month!!! And the pattern is a freebie too and a print at home.... Very easy too so I'm on board!!!

THEE scarf!!!

Yes THEE scarf it's been in my WIP pile for a while....

I think I just love it so much I can't say goodbye!
BUT the time has come, it must be sent to it's new & loving home, my Granny Mattie's.

I managed to get 2 1/2 yards of linen for £10 which I was happy enough with... I do love linen too, it has such a lovely feel to it... Might have to see if there's enough left for a crafty apron of sorts!

I shall have Finn's blanket on Creative spaces on Thursday... I hope to have found just the right decorative stitch from my brother machine.... AKA Adam

Creative space #4

Another week passed this seems to be happening quite a lot!!!!
Were did my week go?!?!?!?

I think most of it was because...

Poor wee Frazer has a chest and ear infection and is now on a anti-biotic, and Finn has run in to a door, giving himself the worst bump he has ever had..... I took him to see the nurse tonight, he is badly bruised and I have to expect more bruising, as the bottom teeth very nearly went through his top lip... he is so sore the wee dote. Lots of love, cuddles & fave movies I think....

So on to my lovely blanket... Well I say my blanket, really it's Finn's!

Here it is before border....

And....

Here it is now.... I have 3 rows of the border done turns out I needed to do 5 DC, chain cont this has given me as flat as I'm going to get it I am more than happy and will defo have a proper unveiling next week..... I hope to have chosen a new project to to finish from this WIP list!

Check out more crafty peeps over at Kirsty's... As ever thanx for hosting
