Featured WHERE?!? And strange Derry Skies

Hello there peeps, How is everyone's Monday going??

I had a great weekend, the boys had a party in a park with a little sunshine. They were ready for their bed, nothing like wearing them out with a bit of fresh air!

On Saturday I woke up to my tutorial being featured on Totally Tutorials..... And to top it off, Today I woke up the same tutorial being featured on Craft Gossip!!! Can you feel my smile...... I certainly can!!!

I am a very happy camper.

So on to today...... 

I have a dentist appointment at 10.45, I am not looking forward to it. But in reality who likes the dentist!! I have to get a filling repaired, I have a feeling it might turn into a "We might have to rip this out Miss Anderson"  Fingers crossed it all gets done today, or I might just loos my bottle!!!

I had a head scratching moment this morning.......

I seen this in the sky?!?!?!?!? It is not a plane, it started from the ground...... And it was going to fast, also the trail left was too thick!!!

OK so I might seem a little crazy.... BUT really what is it?!?!?!!?!

Tutorial ~ How to mend a rip OR tear!

Hello there peeps

I have been working a few tutorials.

First up 

How to mend a tear

These are my boys fave pj's so needed a little attention!

Here goes!!

What you'll need

~ A item with a hole (of course!!)

~ Scissors OR Pinking shears

~ Scrap of fabric (to cover said hole)

~ Thread

~ Pins

OK have you got your supplies... Yes, well lets go!

Here we have said fave pj's!!

Press closed...

Now, cut your scrap, say 5/8ths bigger. I used Pinking shears, but you can just use a zig-zag stitch to save your scrap from fraying. There is also a this magic stuff called Fray stop, I have never used it but I have heard rave reviews..

Now, with the right side facing you pin said rip or tear...

Turn your ripped or torn clothing to the wrong side, and pin like so. I have the pins like this over the seams,  if you like you can sew over them without any bother....

Now go to your machine, remover the front. Like so....

With the front removed you have more space. Now place your item under you needle of your machine tucking underneath....

You should look like this.... Start sewing towards the next corner at 1/4 inch, taking care of the pins you put in the right side!

When you get to the corner, raise your foot and turn. Do this till you get all sides done....

Now, you need to go over the first corner and do a back stitch to hold....

Take out your pins, you should look like this....

Turn right side, remover pins...

Place your item under the foot, over the tear or rip.... NOW, you want to do a straight stitch here for about sat 3-4 stitches. Then do your zig-zag. This will prevent the zig-zag stitch falling out...

I went over mines twice, as the bottom part of my tear was wide. This is for you to judge!!

This is my wrong side.... I could have done with a little more scrap at the bottom, it's better to have to much. You can cut it off then!!

That being said I do now have a very happy wee boy....

So there we have it...

Accuquilt Rag quilt Agogo!!!! Tips/Tutorial Blogtoberfest #29

 

Good morning peeps...

 

Another Monday has come ALREADY. How did that happen!! I think kids make time disappear!! Talking of my boys.... We are officially in school/nursery FULL-TIME can I hear a WOOP WOOP!!!!! Very happy mummy right now. I now have time to make me a little rota of craft that will hopefully turn in to a wee business.

 

Well on to my rag quilt Tada!! As you know I have been playing with my Go cutter.... I am in love this is a fantastic gadget to have if you have a passion for quilting, your cutting time is minimal and you can get right down to the fun stuff QUILTING!!!!!

 

So as you can see I've been busy cutting & cutting away.. The mat has taken quite a battering. I'm so glad they are available in the UK. And for £9.20!!

There was alot of prep for the perfect rag square...

 



 

I have but 2 bits of tape on my sewing machine plate.. 1. ~ at the 1cm mark 2. ~ at the back so you can line up the corners. and there was no need for a 3rd as the mark is just at the edge of the foot plate at the front!! People may find this all a but too much but it does make for the "perfect" square.

 

Another couple of tips....

 

1. ~ When quilting the squares, I have been doing a backward stitch just to secure, I have from the corner done - 2 stitches forward 1 back then stitched to the opposite corner... And then done 2-3 backward stitch. The reason for the 1 back stitch at the start, is the stitch length is longer!! It messes up the perfect~ness!!

 

2. ~ If you are worried about sewing a "perfect" cross (for the quilting of rag square) then finger press at the beginning of each stitch!

 

 

 

So what do you think?!?!?

 

The owl fabric is from Abakhan Fabrics Manchester store. I love love it so very quirky and very me!! If you live near a Abakhan Fabric store you should defo head in for a visit.. It's a one stop shop... Me and the boys are heading over to Manchester for a holiday this weekend. I will be in for a wander!! Books I'm loving.... And maybe some sewing too!

Hello there How is everyone Saturday going.... Me and the boys are having a fab day! They are playing in the toy room whilst I TRY to write this blog post, before we head on out to the garden for a wee run about!

Today we booked our wee beach break to Portstewart, SOOO can't wait only 3 days but 3 day we will enjoy to the MMAAXXX! We also went to the library today and got a few new books...

I'm also LOVING The fabric selector it's a fab reference book a must for your book shelve, if your a sewing enthusiast... It shows you all the different types of fabric as well as how to work with it being the needles to use and the care instructions. This book is also recommended
by sewing classes at online universities which is worth checking out!

And now on to my sewing..... That has been put back till tomorrow!!!

I recently found a tutorial for a sewing machine cover, I have the pattern made and the fabric chosen.... I've had this in my stash for so long, it's been sitting waiting to find a use special enough to put scissors to it... I got it on eBay and has been a wee treasure... I just so hope I don't mess it up!!!

True Blood Corchet Along - On Ravelry

So another post already huh.....

I have had a wave of oooohhhhh, yes please!!!


I am a avid fan of Ravelry I have yet to update my projects, since I got back on-line. I shall be getting that done tomorrow!! I am a member of a few groups over at ravelry and one of them is the True Blood, I have never been invited to a CAL also known as.... Crochet Along What fun I say!!! There are lots of options from bags form our very own Attic 24 of course! To fingerless gloves to skirts & tops too.... I am in a little bit of a TIZZY!!! I have to vote tomorrow for my fave!

If your new to Ravelry then you should defo get on over there it's ace!!

Slowly slowly....

So as it turns out I am a person who, is full of gusto when things are started, not just sewing projects but all things!!!! I have known this for quite sometime, but my blogging has shown me just how "late" I run... I have lots of examples but hey, I'm not gonna be that honest!! I have taken the first step, not rectifying my trend.... But running with it, it doesn't have to be a bad thing?? As long as I get my projects done I say.....

So with this in mind, I was super happy to have found this little course...

Made pants Trial #1

Well hello there, how is everyone??
I personally have had the best day, ignoring the usual tantrums as you do!! A lost ipod was found, Happifing mail arrived, pigeon post and email versions, I won on Ebay and I have a tidy house with ironing finished! To top it all off I got Dana's pants pattern done and modeled too!!!

I have entered a giveaway and made said pants.....
which leads us to "the shoot"!!!

I had to play with the settings a little on my camera.... This was the night portrait but unless your "subject" is completely still this is the effect!! Frazer was enjoying it though.

I found that the children setting was best, I was able to catch motion shots with no blur!! I do love that the joy of love... I have actually been investigating & learning!!

So this is my lovie in his MADE comfy trouser pattern.... Bearing in mind her boy is a skinny tall 3yr, and Frazer is 2 and 2.5 stones, then the pattern is in need of some altering.... I hope to have drafted a Frazer pant for tomorrow night.... He needs more room in the booty area, and some space for the thighs.

Whilst our photo shoot was going on, Finn was determined to get the jumper off himself! My independent wee boy huh!! He got there in the end.... Can't wait to get started on Finn's, then on to lining! I may run behind on this but, it will be a thing I can use over and over again!
