Flea market finds.... Blogtoberfest #6

Hello on this yet another crisp morning in October....

I have to say I am loving October cold ~ Yes for sure but the sun is lovely, and the colours well to die for!! I have a list as long as my arm of things I should be doing but luckily enough for me blogging is on o them... Thanx Blogtoberfest 2012!!!

I have a huge stash of vintage sheets to show you, but to photograph them I must find them. And to say that my sewing room has been neglected is a understatement. Sooo I shall show you my latest find.. And have a little build up till I show you the rest...

So here she is...

Isn't she fab I love the colours they just seem to pop... Oh so very bright, vibrant! I plan on making a fleeced back rag quilt for a friend with this using white cotton too.. I don't think I'll manage to find the pinks to match it. Also I think the sheet is enough of a statement..

And my book collection grows.. This book was given to the boys so not so much a find but vintage and brilliant all the same.. It is a first edition and in great condition.... UNTIL I spilt coffee on the edges :( (and on the same day I burnt my hand too) Coffee was not my friend that day!!!

Well that's it for my just now must get on with this endless list... Before the boys finish school!!!

Happy Tuesday everyone..

Some park action & a new crochet project in the usual spot.. Blogtoberfest #5

Good evening all

I'm running a bit later today.. It's been a fabulous day with a couple of hectic bumps along the way!!! The boys had a great day at school, they came home with smiles and gold stars ~ Very proud mummy alert!! My wee super stars :)

Finn having no fear of heights!!

We had a lovely time at the park today too.. I have to say, I don't think I'll ever grow out of going real high on the swings. Me & Finn love to share the swing he sits on my knee, facing me hugging so tight screaming "higher mummy" I love it.. he's so full of laughter.. He's infectious!!!

Frazer seems to have no fear of heights either coming down this big slide!!

After all our fun at the park we had a lovely wander home, I found a easier way home today too.. By easier I mean less hills. Derry is full of hills, and it must be bad if I notice... I'm from Edinburgh and we have mountains there! Anyways we got home done our homework, then a Little art. I so love sitting down with the boys and getting lost in their imagination.. The stories that go with their drawings are brilliant! a kids mind is a wonderful thing!!

After all that they boys went off to play, I got 5 loads of laundry done and hung!! Check me out ~ Patting myself on the back right now :) I even managed to get my windows cleaned today too!! After all this productivity, the plumber/electrician came by. I had a list of things that needed done.. There was a battle of fuses, floods & confusion BUT the end result is DRUM ROLL PLEASE... I have a toilet that flushes, a boiler that works and radiators that are hot!! Now that is a fab non sewing Ta-Da!!!

*****

So tonight sitting on my lovely rocking chair, I have been cosied up beside my fire starting a new crochet project.. A hot cuppa in hand and my gingernut biscuits not too far away!! A perfect end to a very nearly perfect day.

I hope everyone has had a great Monday and has spent it with people they love.. there is no greater gift..

Our lovely day out at a organic farm... Blogtoberfest #4

Blogtoberfest 2012 #4

Well that's dinner in the oven.. So I'll go for post 3!

Me and the boys were out on a friends organic farm yesterday, I have to say it was a fantastic day really relaxing and fun. It was the best day we have had for such a long time.. It's so nice to get "out of the city" I know Derry isn't big but it can seem a little hectic at times.

Our lovely friend sent us home with a whole heap of yummy veg!!

Don't you just love these shamrocks.. They are Fantastic!!

The views over at the farm are second to none.. I am always drawn to water, but I'm a Scorpio so I think it's a given that this is my kinda thing!!

Isn't this the loveliest forest... I just adore it, Frazer was full of questions... Finn had a stick and was whacking everything in sight & having a good explore!!

Now the boys know where wool comes from, how seeds are spread about the forest & how mushrooms grow... A very educational day indeed!!!!

The boys even got to harvest fresh eggs... They didn't even break them putting them in the bucket!!

I'm so happy the boys got to sit in the tractor, they were so excited when they heard we were going. All they could talk about was riding in a tractor!!!

We never really seen many cows or sheep as they were up the field... We did get to feed the hens though.

I hope you've enjoyed our day out at the farm, I'm gonna do this in 2 parts as there are sooo many good pictures. In part 2 I'll show you all the yummy food that our friend grows...

I'm going to run a bath for the boys.. School tomorrow. I hope you have enjoyed reading, we certainly had a fab day!!

And now for a little beading.... Blogtoberfest #3

And I'm on a roll!!

This is Blogtoberfest post #3...

If your a regular here at chez Traci, you may have noticed my flavour of this month is Beading...

I have become a little partial to it.

It started here with this fold-over clutch.... I have to say it is super fiddly (having the right size needle defo helps) It is very time consuming too, but I do think that the end result is well worth it. And it is very therapeutic!

I have added beads to my crochet here... There seems to be no end to the simple bead adding Pizazz to crafty projects.

This is my latest beading adventure... So what do you think???

This is going to be another lavender heart, I just followed the pattern of the fabric, and used the beads from my stash... I think this would be a worthy craft for my/your hand bag.. It takes up very little room, and could be done anywhere. A little plate or bowl would be a advantage though saves the beads going everywhere!!

I'm off now to do a little housework... I feel it maybe getting slightly neglected!!

My excuse..... Blogtoberfest #2

So like the title says....

My excuse

Yes this is my excuse for not posting yesterday, I gave myself a rather nasty burn.. I am known to drink very cold coffee... I blame housework and motherhood!! But for some reason yesterday I though just pop in in the microwave. So I did, I put the cup in then proceeded to totally forget I put it in there. I rushed over took the cup out and then thought well no problem here, just pour it in another cup, This is when my coffee decided to go all science experiment-like on me and bubbled over.... ALL OVER MY HAND!!!!!!!! It was oh so very sore, I jumped so high when it happened my friend got a fright!!! So lesson learnt here... Drink it whilst it's hot OR make a new one!!!

So today I have a couple of posts lined up... (Trying to catch up on Blogtoberfest already!!!) First is Derry Autumn, I have to say Derry as a city has so many photo opportunities And I do love the colours Autumn offers us all those reds, browns & oranges... Just makes you want to get all your snugly winters on.. There is nothing better then Pj socks and a woolly jumper... Not to mention I do enjoy the open fire!

View of outer Bishop Street through The Walls

My wee Finn Looking not so wee anymore!!
The orange is so so vibrant!!

This is a lovely building on outer Bishop Street.. I always wonder what it was, I shall have to have a dig about to find out! I shall keep you posted..

We managed to get the sunset just right on the way home..

Finn playing hide and seek!!

I do enjoy dry days.... It's the simple things that make us smile. A walk home can be so much fun, there are bushes to hide in walls to walk along, leaves to kick!!!

Hope you enjoyed our walk...
We defo did!!!

Sewing class & crochet TaDa AKA Creative space (Blogtoberfest#1)

Hello there.. New readers and old... I welcome you both with open arms!!!

So this is my first (yes I'm late!!) BLOGTOBERFEST post, This year blogtober is being held over at I Saw You Dancing where Kat is hosting this year, to give our vetron Cathy over at {tinniegirl} a much deserved break, Giveaway goodness is still over with Cam at Curlypops...

Blogtoberfest is held on October and is a chance to meet other bloggers and get you blogging up to full speed (for me anyways!!) That means a blig post a day... I have been at a low seep of say 1 post every 4 days. So I'm shaking things up around here... So on to the post!!

How is everyone???

We are great here, the boys are happy at school/nursery and I am loving school too!! I am now officially back in learning. I am studying Garment Making as well as Accountancy & finance, I am going to find the latter a challenge but the Garment Making is brilliant I just love it. I am oh so inspired, it's so good to be surrounded by like minded souls! Everyone abuzz with ~ Oh where did you get that fabric? ~ What a lovely pattern ~ How long have you been sewing....

The class is for 2 hours. So it wasn't all chatting, I managed to get some sewing done... Now this has been in the stash for sooooo long both fabric (Michael Miller if I remember rightly) & Amy Butler pattern.

I am proud I was able to get the fabric match so well with the darts, I have to say I was a little worried!!

I am loving the darts... But am aware I need a tailors ham or a good tutorial for one?!?!?

Now for my crochet TaDa...

This has been a frustration but highly rewarding project.. I have to say I got just a little board of it I like a project with a less repetitive air about it!!!

I really enjoyed putting in the beads... It's my first time adding beads to a crochet project, I would defo recommend it. It gives the project that little bit of flair!!

This is the back view..

Look at how yummy it is!!!
The pattern is by Erika knight ~ Beaded Cobweb Wrap
The wool is Debbie Bliss ~ Party Angel
You can find me on ravelry Handmadehappiness

I have to say I think this was SOOO worth the work, and my mother in-law loves it!! It is a belated birthday present. I have a beaded lavender heart on my sewing table.. I plan on making a drawstring dust bag for the wrap.. Any good tutes you know of?!?!?

If your enjoying the crafty good~ness here check out some more Creative spaces here...

Oh my embelished heart!!!

Well hello and good morning.

How is your Monday going?? It's mostly dry over here in Derry. The boys are in nursery/school, it is Finn's first full day, and Frazer is now in till 11.15am... Freedom AKA sewing time is defo nearer. I am super excited that I start my Garment making course this week it will be so good to be around like minded souls.. Roll on Wednesday I say!!!

*****

As you all know I have been Crocheting away for the last couple of weeks (At least!) I have a vague TaDa here... Not the greatest pic but, you can see the beading a little here. I will be getting a better pic this afternoon..

So to go with this lovely Wrap (Erika Knight~Beaded Cobweb Wrap)....

I have been rummaging through my beads again...
I have a little helper there at the back do you see?!?!?

And I got this fabric forever ago.... It was £3.50 for 2 meters of cotton, It is to die for. I love it, it has a whole I'm vintage feel about it, it's so not vintage but it defo looks the part!!

This is the end result of my beading... I am making a lavender heart. I think the fabric/beads will be just the right partnership for the wrap.. I am pretty chuffed with is all. I plan on making a drawstring bag to put said wrap in. All I need now is a lovely card... As I may have mentioned, this is for the boys granny (Ma) it was meant to be for her birthday but alas... I am late!!! I think it's a pressie worth waiting for!

So what do you think of my beading adventures?!?!? And does anyone know any good links to a lined drawstring tutorial?!?!?

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE :)
