KCWC with PJ partying too!!

Hello there,
How has everyones Saturday going?

I have been sewing away all day, I have sore eyes BUT I have 2 very happy boys! And a very fulfilled mummy! Did anyone else take part in the PJ party?!?! I have a pattern ready to go for me too, but I wanted to link this in with KCWC.

I made the trousers from a duvet cover... Me and my upcycling!! I have to say I love using old duvet covers for the boys Pj's... It's not easy getting cost effective boys fabric. This is defo a winner for me!

The white tops are shop bought... Not new though I had a root about the wardrobe and found them. I used these free templates for the applique. The boys are at such a great age they get to choose! ( I used Simplicity 4388 for the bottoms)

Trying to get the boys to pose at bed time is no easy task!!!
BUT we got there in the end.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your Saturday... I'm off to cut a new pattern for a secret mission coming soon! Watch this space :)

Starbucks & stitches!

Hello There,
You guessed it me and Frazer are having our wee coffee and muffin in Starbucks! It's a place we both now love; Frazer gets his chocolate fix (Bad Mummy way too early for such things!) And I get to have a surf on the net! That being said I don't like to waste a minuite.... So when I was out on the rag run AKA thrift shopping! I found a lovely wee bag see it there on the right (only £1.99!) It now has my Yo-Yo Maker, thread, needles and pre-cut fabric in it.... Never a moment wasted I say!

,
It's even purple, I love my new crafty bag!!

Frazer having a good rummage in my bag for his cars!! Normally my bag is a no go area BUT, if I'm getting sewing and a little blogging done..... It's a win win really!

Frazer starts nursery in September.... I'll be just a little lost without him! Both boys will be in P1 and nursery... People say the time flys when they start school/nursery, I look at my boys now and wonder where the time has gone already!

I hope you all have a fab Thursday

Hugz!

Sew Magazine's childs skirt for Ellie & some exciting news to come!

Happy Sunday everyone!

I've been catching up on lots of sewing this weekend, I managed to get this wee skirt finished. Ellie loves it, I'm going to applique the the tree and band to a plain while t-shirt so she can wear it as a outfit. The pattern came from sew magazine, they have a website with a list of free projects, I love this magazine every month I buy this and Burda Style. Burda style has a website that is full of inspiration and free patterns.. It's well worth a look you can register for free and post all your projects in your online studio!

I added a little fakers crochet at the bottom, I reckon it looks well! That being said I do have to work on my zig-zag stitch. But practice makes perfect! I will defo be making a few of these wee skirts but I'll be doing different applique.. Watch this space!!

I have some exciting news on the crafty front but I have to wait to let you all in on it... I am so happy to have been contacted by a certain company to work with them, it is nice to be recognised in the crafty world!!

My Library card doing it's bussiness!

Hey there, how is everyone?
I have had a very productive day myself, food shopping done, washing done, pattern prepping done and now blogging!!

Today's post is all about what I have out in my Library card. I must be my library's worst nightmare... I find a book I like, maybe LOVE is a better word and i just extend it till I hit the full 3 months!

Here's a my current books....

Sewing Patterns 200 QUESTIONS ANSWERED - SOPHIE ENGLISH

This is a great wee reference book it has all the basics eg - Understanding the back of a a pattern envelope.. Too altering a pattern for a larger bottom. I think I could have benefited from more pics but overall... I like this book!

THE FABRIC SELECTOR -DANA WILLARD

This book is F-A-B! I have this on my wish list on Amazon. It has so much info eg - Needles to use, care instructions, how best to cut, what thread to use... I could go on!! I LOVE this book!

FIFTEY DRESSES THAT CHANGED THE WORLD - DESIGN MUSEUM

This book is another ace book very inspiring, they are defo dresses that changed fashion. There will be quite a few you recognise! I LOVE this book!

CROCHETED EDGING & TRIMS - SUSAN SMITH

AAAhhhh this is a book that will be in my book shelve in no time. It lacks enough pictures but the end products are worth the tinkering! I LOVE this book.

not your mama's CROCHET - Amy Swenson

This is a mixed bag, on one hand some of the designs are a bit dated... On the other hand it has a Eco bag made with carrier bags, a denim rug and a boyfriend jumper I have to make!! I like this book.. Alot!

chloe owens - all sewn up

This book is oh so inspiring yet another that will be winging it's way over to my book shelve... Very good for applique.. The cover is lush too. I LOVE this book!

the homemade home - Sania Pell

A quirky book to say the least! But I have to say the embroidery hoop pics, & tea cup plants are too cute. I like this book.

The LIBERTY Book of Home Sewing - Lucinda Ganderton

OOOOHHH this book is another on my wish list on Amazon... There are so many projects to do roman blinds, round cushion, tote bag, the rose cushion makes me squeak just a little... This book is a must.... I LOVE this book!

And last but not least.....

SUMMER AND THE CITY - Candice Brushnell

Who doesn't like a little trash!! I LOVE this book!!

So there we have it... My library card at work.... And what a good job it has done! I have these books at the side of my bed, I have to say never tire looking at them! Some of the links have a look inside section, I suggest you have a wee peek to see what all my rambling is about...!

Does anyone have any good books they are reading at the mo?!?!? Fancy sharing in the comments... I would like a few new books to faun over!!

Not such a creative space more or a reaserch space!!

Manchester's Water....

Hey there Peeps

How are you all?!?!

Me and Frazer are in Starbucks for our wee morning coffee, he is in his element with a new Jigsaw (I have to say I am a massive fan of Ravensburger. They come in boxes with 4 puzzles and are very durable!)

Anyways on with today's post eh!!

I reckon you'd have guessed by now that my Easter holidays were spent in Manchester! We really did have the best time... So good I even forgot to do my usual, that being me taking a stupid amount of pics!!

I did take a few though..

I love this photo I caught the sun just right... Both boys looking in amazement the floor is getting smaller mummy!

I loved this wee guy....!!
There are soooo many water features over in Manchester but I suppose it makes sense to make use of all the rain water we get in the UK!!

Frazer looks so tiny in this one!!

I felt like a strict mum in this pic, they were more than unimpressed that I wouldn't let them run in the water!!

Well that's another wee instalment of our Manchester adventure, I still have the views from the big wheel to show you.. They were fantastic and we got such a good day for it too..

We will be heading back to Manchester in May... Anyone have places that I just shouldn't miss?!?!? We will be booking Legoland before we go this time though!! And I have learnt very quickly... NO DOUBLE BUGGY!! LOL.

Have a fantastic Tuesday everyone, Thanx for stopping by.

Our Easter

Hey there

How is everyone?!?!?

We are back from our travels, we spent Easter in Manchester... We had a lovely dinner cooked for us, not only was it a great meal but it was all the better as I didn't have to make it!! It always tastes better when it's made for you don't you agree?!?!?

Love Frazer's face super excited!!

The hunt is on!!

Before we went to Manchester we had a good old egg hunt in the garden... Lots of eggs were found and lots of smiles around too.

Palette Challenge Spring/Summer 2012

Hey there peeps

I have been inspired so many times this week, it makes up for my missing mojo of the last few weeks! Today's inspiration has been lingering for the last couple of days... I really want to take part in the Palette challenge S/S 2012 over at Coletterie.

I have to say I have been doing a little Mood board-ness over at my pintrest.

The only thing is all my stash is in storage.... That being said, I reckon I'm gonna do a little challenge and make say 3-4 pieces. I reckon it's do-able with not too much money to spend.

As you can probably tell I'm going for a vintage look and Linen will be in my wee collection, That and lots of embelishments!

I shall keep you updated so watch this space!!

I L-O-V-E-D this store... I surprisingly never bought anything, but I knew I could buy online.. So I saved my pennies for my fabric haul....

This store was oh so inspiring, it makes you want to go make wondrous things at home!

Growing some more stash From Abakhan Fabrics Manchester!

So like the title says..... I've been stash building not busting!!
Oh dear! I don't feel to bad about it though (said like a true fabric junkie) It was all a bargain and all bar one piece of cotton has a purpose!

I got it all from Abakhan Fabrics Manchester... They are a bargain hunters galore. It is the first shop I've seen that does fabric by the kg and not the meter/yard.

They have so many stores but sadly none in Ireland!!

They also have a fantastic Website that I have to say is very people friendly.

They have regular giveaways on their Facebook page.

I have to give a big thank you too Fiona of The Sewing Directory. She was as always very helpful if you have any sewing needs she should be your first port of call.

Now on to my lovely wee buys today....

I'm loving that the boys can choose their own fabric now makes for more enjoyment when sewing and the boys are so proud that mummy made it... It makes me smile so much!
Finn chose this for a wee t-shirt/Pj's

Frazer chose this for the same job!

This is for me to make some t-shirts from Burda.

This cotton is more lime than the picture shows.... It has no purpose YET but I couldn't leave it!!

I know it's a little early for Xmas buying but this has bunting written all over it!!

Another early Xmas buy but look at those reindeer... Too cute this will be a fab skirt.

This here is gonna be a lush quilt... Now HONESTLY do you think these will go well together?!?!? I love them but I am a tiny bit unsure... Unleash your inner thoughts peeps!!

The boys seen this and gave the expected MUMMY LOOK scream, so it was a given for the buy pile!!

One more BIG up from me to Abakhan is their Bargain bags Approx 30 meters for only £14.99.

Basically I love Michael Abakhan Fabric, If you don't know it... Then get to know it!!!

That's my gushing over..

Hope all you fabric junkies have fun!!
