#reverb12 ~ Day 31

Take a moment to yourself, somewhere quiet.

Take a deep breath, and if you have the time/space/inclination do something that has significance for you e.g. light a candle, brew a put of your favourite tea, play your favourite music, whatever.

Think back to where you were all those moons ago, on 1 December when you started #reverb12. All the way back then, I asked: "How are you starting?"

Now, I am not going to ask you "Where are you finishing?" because this is not the end. What I want to ask is, "Where are you now?".

You have spent a month honouring everything that has brought you to this place: the highs, the lows, the messy middles, the exuberant rainbows, the turbulent storms, the fresh strawberries dipped in dark chocolate, the too-tight jeans, the unexpected windfalls, the toddler tantrums (theirs or yours!), all of it.

You have thanked each end every one of these things for the things they have taught you and brought you, and fully know that they reside benignly in your physical, emotional and spiritual being. You know know that while they brought you here and will always be with you, there is no reason for them to hold you back any longer.

You are standing where you are, all that you are, splendidly imperfect and right in the middle of this messy delicious life.

Take another deep breath.

Now quickly and without thinking too much about it, finish these five sentences:

2013 is going to be MY YEAR because...

In 2013, I am going to do... Way more sewing and learning.

In 2013, I am going to feel... More able to push my creative boundaries.

In 2013, I am not going to... Wallow.

In December 2013, I am going to look back and say... I've bonded more with my boys, gained a little patience, spent lots of quality time with my family and learnt alot of new sewing skills.

Well that's my #reverb12 done... I was not expecting it to be so heavy?!?!?!? I think that just reflects my rather hectic year. I very much look forward to our 2013 & all the promise it holds.

#reverb12 ~ Day 30

Often we see our life as a humongous journey, and we believe that not only have we not arrived at our far away desired destination, but we also think we must accomplish x, y, and z, before we can declare with satisfaction that we are THERE.

For a moment, take a close look at who you are NOW. See what you can declare.

Merge the past, present, and future into one big ARRIVAL.

Describe joyously and in great celebration the BEING that you ARE.

I right now am a happy mummy, a happier person and definitely feel a air of accomplishment in certain areas. I'm also a student to boot!!

These is my "Are" just now...

#reverb12 ~ Day 29

What word did you select to be your travelling companion in 2012? What gifts did this word bring?

What word will you choose to guide you through 2013? What do you hope it will bring into your life?

There was no travelling companion "word" of 2012
I basically flew by the wind in my pants as they say!!

Will be my word of 2013.... As it already holds promise for ~ firstly My Family, My creativity & My confidence.

#reverb12 ~ Day 28

Think of three things that daunted you in 2012: how are you going to work towards overcoming them in 2013?
What is this???

Starting school again.... I was worried about being in a classroom again, to be honest being a adult learner isn't so bad. Everyone wants to be there and wants to learn!!

Moving house.... I hate packing! I will be doing it again in 2013.... But I plan on gutting out. I am such a hoarder!!!

Eating..... I have a bad relationship with food... This is a work in progress. I shall keep having dinner parties and nibbling away!!!

#reverb12 ~ Day 27

How did you make time for creativity in 2012?

Looking back, is there one creative time or one particular creation that stands out for you? (Maybe you could share it here?)

How will you continue (or start) making time and space for your creative passions in 2013?
What's this???

In one word "NIGHT SHIFT" this is the time all my crafting took place... Well that was until I took up my garment making class. This is on a Wednesday 9.30am till 11.30pm. It fits right in with the boys being at school. I've been winning the war with "The dreaded vintage placket"!!!! I have a list of things I want to tackle during class..

I will be running a tight ship of routine, planning and good attendance at school to keep my creative juices a flow!! I plan to take my crafting up a notch this year..

I will be taking part in pattern reviews challenges... 2013 will see me making and reviewing!
I will be taking my craftsy classes seriously... I've already started my bag making course!! I have been searching for inspiration everywhere you.

#reverb12 ~ Day 26

How do you intend to carve out more time for the things that are the most important to you in 2013?
This is a easy one for me.... I will be gaining order in my life with a planner/rota, School (me and the boys) housework, sewing and online courses. I will be making sure I have proper me time too... AKA a bubble bath with candles!!!

I have never had such a thing. I go about things until I suddenly realise that "oh that needs done"!!! I shall rectify that this year.. I find so much time is taken up doing things last minute. It also stresses me out doing it like that..

So planner/rota here I come!!

#reverb12 ~ Day 25

How will you be vulnerable?

The soft white underbelly, the flaw in the Armour, the Achilles' heel -- weaknesses are what make us the most human, the most beautiful.

Next year, how will you tend to your vulnerabilities? How will you build them a shelter from the storm? How will you put them through physical therapy? How will you find a way to make them work to your advantage?
I was a very trusting I always wanted to see the best in people.. This part is broken!

I suppose this is a little like my armour now, not to trust everyone... and only let very few people in. It's better to have few REAL friends than lots of ACQUAINTANCES who may or may not care for you.

#reverb12 ~ Day 24

What is the single most important habit you intend to cultivate in 2013?
What is this???

My bond with my boys.... I will be taking part in more activities, arts crafts, baking, walks, swimming. I plan on a monthly rota of fun.. I love routine!!!

#reverb12 ~ Day23

What will you let go of?
Name three excuses -- stories you tell yourself that are holding you back -- that you are going to let go of in 2013.
What is this?????

Believing people with my heart not my head..... (naive)

I'll sew when I get the house tidy!!! (I have to young boys, never gonna happen!)

That what other people think, really matters in my life.... (It's my life, have more confidence!)

I will be making change in 2013!!!

29 December 2012

#reverb12 ~Day22

What was the greatest gift you received in 2012? What was the greatest gift you gave?

What do you intend to give yourself in 2013?
These questions can be very BIG!!!!!
On a lighter side... I was given LOTS of craftsy classes, I gave free sewing lessons to 2 ladies.
I promise to give myself time to learn in 2013!!!

#reverb12 ~Day 21

What items did you tick off your dream list in 2012? What other, unexpected, dreams came to fruition?

What are the top three items on your dream list for 2013?
1st off I got myself back in to learning!!! Yeah me!!!!
As for my top 3 items on my dream list
~ Owning a caravan
~ Becoming a Tailor
~ Going on a sunny holiday with a trust worthy babysitting service!!!

#reverb12 ~ Day 20

What was lost in 2012? What do you intend to find in 2013?

A little self beleif, I will be going with my gut more this year..... It doesn't lie!!!!

#reverb12 ~ Day 19

How did you nourish your beautiful body in 2012?

What self-care practices will you take with you into 2013?

If  I am completely honest with you.... I lost too much weight in the wrong way. UK 14 - UK 4 on the other hand I am now a size UK 8 and plan to get to a 10.. I have learnt to be aware of my food intake even in stressful situations!

28 December 2012

#reverb12 ~ Day 18

What colour best represents the year you had in 2012? And why?

What colour would you like to invite into your life in 2013?
Green.... I spent so much time out with my boys this year. Parks & walks, I will be welcoming YELLOW this year as I plan for a sunny holiday!!!!

#reverb12 ~Day 17

Think of one person whose life you made a difference to in 2012.

What did you gain from this?

How will you continue to make a difference in 2013?
I shall have to think on this one!!!!

#reverb12 ~Day 16

Who inspired you in 2012? And why?

What gifts did they give you? And how will you carry these forward in to 2013?
I waited patiently every week for the next episode!!!
My new Project runway!!!!
I love to see peoples designs evolve.... The way they plan their work!!
The gifts ~ Well I shall go where my mind wanders.. There's no point's if there is no risks!!!
I will use this in my craftsy classes!!

#reverb12 ~ Day 15

What was the most extraordinary dish you sampled in 2012? What made it so magical?
I made a fantastic curry this year.... From a Marks & Spencers recipe book. ( I shall add a recipe later on)
I love to cook this is a fab book!!!

14 December 2012

#reverb12 ~Day 14

My question is: what was the most important thing you learned in 2012?
I learnt that TRUST is a massive 5 letter word it is easily lost, And hard to learn all over again... I am struggling with it but, another thing learnt is that without trying to trust again... I'm not going to live, Just exist.

#reverb12 ~Day 13

Please post your favourite picture of yourself from 2012, self-portrait or otherwise!
What is this???

This was taken by my friend Stephanie.... I have genuine laughter with her. It's all very refreshing!!

#reverb12 ~ Day 12

What made you dance in 2012? What made you weep?
What is this???

Dance..... Maybe using my Accuquilt for the first time and completing the quilt!!

Weep.... Feeling that justice was not served on a recent incident in my life..

#reverb12 ~ Day 11

What was music to your ears in 2012, literally or metaphorically?
What is this???

This year.... Well last month, I took my makes to 5 different shops in the town I live in to see if they would see my handmade wears.... ALL 5 SAID YES!!!!

This means in 2013 I shall be getting my ass into gear and sorting out a business plan!!

13 December 2012

#reverb12 ~ Day 10

What was the greatest risk you took in 2012? What was the outcome?
What is this??
For me..... To trust...
The outcome...
A great friend.
That's all!!!

9 December 2012

#reverb12 ~ Day 9

What was the best book you read in 2012, and why? (And by "Why?" I mean: Why did you read it? And why was it your favourite? Although these answers could be one and the same...!)

That's a hard on.... I'm gonna take the easy option, and share a fiction AND non fiction.
My fiction book is

I am currently reading this book, I love gangsta books/movies BUT to this day I have NOT seen this movie... I always said I would read the book first, so in 2013 I shall watch THE GODFATHER P1...
Now on to the Non Fiction.... This is a hard one, I am a hoarder... On every level, books are certainly no exception. I have read a number of sewing books this year. But I think that Colette SEWING HANDBOOK
This book comes with patterns which is a total bonus..... BUT the real reason I love this book is Suri
Not only does this book show you how.... BUT it also shows you WHY, I think that this is fantastic. it makes the understanding of the tasks so much easier!!
I can't wait to get my free Sorbetto pattern made up!! The only problem is I can't seem to get the printer set to 100%!!! Wish me luck!!

8 December 2012

#reverb12 ~ Day 8

Considering the idea that nothing lasts forever: what was the most important relationship that you fostered in 2012?

How will you continue to nurture it in 2013?
My answer.... My boys...
We have become so close over the last year, They won't be wee boys for long so I'm grabbing all the snuggle time now!
We will be keeping movie night, baking and arts and crafts... I am looking forward to a little tent making and some egg and soilders just now....
Till tomorrow!!

6 December 2012

#reverb12 ~Day 7

What's the one thing you want to take with you into 2013?
~ Other than my boys!!!!
My newly found desire to learn.... I am attending 2 courses ~ Accountancy & Bookkeeping and my Garment Making. I have recently been gifted 3 Craftsy classes.
I really can't wait to to get my certificates!!!

#reverb12 day 6

Compare the “you” from the beginning of 2012 to the “you” that you are now. What new skills or talents have you learned or discovered this year?
I have taken on a Accountancy and manual bookeeping course.... I love it.
I have found that being a adult learner, has a heap of  +'s it's great for confidence building, being with like-minded peeps and qualifications!!

#reverb12 ~ Day 5

What was your dream destination in 2012 and why?

It can be a town, city, country or region -- real or imaginary -- and doesn't matter if you actually got there or not!
I have  to say, I never made it but hey we can all dream... I WILL get there one day!!

4 December 2012

#reverb12 ~ Day 4

How are you going to celebrate your self this festive season?
I will celebrate myself this festive sewing by proudly wearing this
I plan to make this in a faux raw silk in wine red, it's  £7.50 per meter... I shall  be wearing this creative pride on Christmas day!!!
Till Tomorrow!!

3 crowns indeed!!!

Hello there peeps
How are you all??? It's freezing here, like bitter cold!!! I'm glad for my fluffy socks that's for sure. Back in Edinburgh (my hometown) It's snowing. We're just bloody freezing!! I always think of my trip to Toronto when I'm cold... It was really freezing there, But they did have a few different names for the type of snow that had fallen... When I was there the snow had a name.... What was it you ask?!?!!? I totally can't remember what I can remember is it would NOT make a snowman... A sin... A sin I say!!!
Anyways   on to my crowns.... My wee Frazer is going to be a king (I'm sure I've told you already!) So I have volunteered to make the nursery new crowns!
I have scoured the web to find the vision in my head to no avail!!! I shall do a tutorial if you fancy?? It can be made with what's in your stash.... (I know you are all fabric hoarders like me!!) + a few sew in gems!

I have managed to loose a white/clear gem already!! That's always the way!!

I shall do a proper Ta-Dah later on when I have the elastic in and my wee model is ready!!

3 December 2012

Hello there peeps..
How are we on our Monday morning...
As I've said before I love a Monday it brings order to a house with 2 boisterous boys and a scatty mummy!!!
We have had the best weekend... The weather was bitter cold YES

But we wrapped up warm and headed on up town Derry has a whole craft fair with a few amusements too. The buzz is fantastic (Even if the rides are £2 a pop!!)

The boys LOVED IT.... Oh to be a baby again!!!
When we finished our wanderings around the town we headed to Starbucks and had cookies and milk... I had my first Gingerbread latte this year too with my lemon poppy seed muffin!! PS do you love mollie makes, this is my first issue... LOVING IT!!!!

I done a little window shopping too.... Do we LOVE or HATE the dress??? It's very girlie!!
Anyways to end our fabby weekend The boys set up our wee mini Christmas trees I am loving this years Christmas so much age 5yrs and nearly 4yrs is SUCH a fantastic age!!

I love this last photo so much.... He will get that bauble on with no help.... YES HE WILL!!!
So that's my we gush huh!!! I have to say yes, my boys can be hectic, tiring & frustrating BUT I would never ever change a thing... I love them so so very much. our children are the reason we live love and laugh..... Never get to caught up in the hectic moments, because these moments above will always out weigh them

#reverb12 ~Day 3

Imagine a scenario where you only had one year left to live. What is one thing that you really wish to do that you just haven't had the chance to accomplish yet?
I would like to add: what steps could you take (however small) to ensure that you accomplish this thing in 2013?
Well this is a hard one.... I've had a good think and I reckon I would have to say that, if I had one year to live I would spend as much as I could with my boys in Edinburgh. So that we could spend as much time with my granny Mattie, I would take here places.... Gardens, secondhand shops (she is the thrifting queen!!!) I would also spend some time down in the caravan with here too.... She loves it down there..
I will be booking a few short trips this year, and all of them will be in Edinburgh so I can see my granny Mattie... I have been a a terrible grand-daughter of late, I have to give myself a good shake!! **Slaps own hand** The year ahead will have me re-gaining my conections with family and friends.. Watch out 2013 I'm-a-coming!!!

#reverb12 ~ Day2

What was your most significant expenditure in 2012?

It doesn't have to be necessarily the biggest expenditure, just the one with the most impact.

What difference has it made to your life?
That's easy... Our new Friday night tradition, movie night. It's the day that shows us the week is over, we come home, pj's on, light the fire, get our newly bought DVD and snuggle up on the sofa... No housework, no computers, no phones.... Just up all snuggled up. It's the boys day  for treats too they wait all week.... Then movie night comes round, they have a special bear (I can't lay my hand on right now, typical!! It's meant for a man and has space in it for a newspaper a beer and a remote control. We put our juice box chocolate and sweeties in it!!! Friday nights in our house really are great.

2 December 2012

#reverb12 ~ Day 1

How are you starting this last month of 2012?

Take a moment, close your eyes, take a deep breath and ask yourself the question: how do you feel...

... in your body? in your mind? in your day job? in your creative life? in your heart?
What is this I hear you say...
Check us out here...
It's all a bit of fun for December....
So in answer to the question above.... I have 2 feelings one of relief that this year is over... And one of happiness,
happiness that I have put weight on ~ Body,
(I was a UK 14 went to a 4 now I am nearly a 8!)
I have a clearer & calmer head ~ Mind
My boys are at such a good age, they really are just so fun to be around ~ Day job
I have such a passion for sewing and crochet, and I am hoping to Tailor my expertise ~ Creative life
I have hopeful~ness and am on them mend ~ Heart.
Well I'm sure that was quite revealing... It certainly was for me, who would have thought just sitting back and pondering feelings would inspire such a raw post!!!
Check out the boys.....
How big are they getting!!!

30 November 2012

Bonnie Birdies ~ tweet tweet!!!

Hey there peeps
I'm sitting catching up on some supernatural, with a cuppa, gingernuts and.....
My wee "Bonnie Birdies"....
These have been in the stash sine last year!!! About time I got them made up. They are named after a dear friend from back home, in Scotland. I think it all ties in nicely her name in Bonnie, women in Scotland can be called birds (slang!) with a little tartan too..
I can't wait to get heaps of these made up...
Do you give your products sentimental names???
Do share!!

Swapping ..... Me!!!!

Hello there peeps
As ever I'm running a little late
I seen a plaque the other day that described me to a T
"If it wasn't for the last minute nothing would get done"!!!!!
I love it
Here's a sneak peek at ONE of my swaps for the handmade ornament swap
This is a fab book...
I photos later (After the swaps are over) it's a very inspiring book indeed... And published in 1996 too!!!
I'm off to finish the housework!!
Lots of sewing posts to come with some.... With some arty farty stuff with me and the boys!!
Enjoy your Friday

27 November 2012

Kimono update....

Hello there
I am still working on the kimono, Have to say this project is one of my all time faves it has been a pleasure to work with... I have really enjoyed every min of it.
It has not only been lovely to work with BUT it has been very educational... Seeing the way it has been put together... it has all been made by hand I can't imagine how long it took to make it originally, I'm only mending it and it's taking a while..... That being said I am taking my time with it as I'm enjoying it so much!
So where am I now
The inside back seam is done....

This is the hem....
I now just have the collar and the inside arm to do then it's ready to be put in the Christmas gift pile. Oh and I have to make a waist tie too... I look forward to choosing the fabric for that!! I would love to make a pattern for this as it it a original, and has been executed with amazing workmanship... Watch this space and I'll let you know...
Let me know if you would like to have the tute written up?!?!?!
Anyways I'm off to enjoy the Autumn sunshine before I pick up the boys.

Feeling a little Craftsy... & Loved!!!

Hello there peeps
We have lift off!!!!
I can now post with photos, A massive thanx to Teresa of affectioknit... I so wouldn't be able to do this without her help... Lovely, patient lady. Thanx so much.

So what have I bee up to??

Well I am a year older

21 AGAIN of course!!
The boys are doing real well. Nursery is going so well Frazer was so ready to start, I think that he watched Finn  all year he was just bursting to get started!!
Finn is turning out to be quite the artist... This makes me a very happy mummy!!! He is full of gold stars, My only niggle and for me is a biggie... There is a wee bugger bullying him. I myself was bullied and I will not have it for my wee boy... I have arranged a meeting at the school and hope to have this resolved, It is a shame that it seems to be bully or be bullied in school...
Anyways I shall keep you posted!!! on to a happier note.... Check out our lovely school photo.
This is just the proof photo, but I'm loving it!! All grown up..
I got one done of Frazer on his own... He looks so angelic!!
I've also been out scouring the web for fab classes.... And then..... DRUM ROLL.... I was gifted 3 Craftsy classes... The classic tailored shirt, Beginner Serging & The Couture dress. I am a very happy lady indeed!!
I have also been sewing away I now have 2 pairs of pj's done, just one left and that's 3 Christmas pressies down!! I am using vintage patterns.. (I shall add them later) I have to say the plackets are DEMENTING ME!!! But practise makes perfect! so I reckon this last pair will be brilliant, lessons learnt with the first 2 pairs!!

I have to have a extra seam on the last pair, on the outer leg. I  am running low on this lovely fabric (I shall get you the makers name for the last pair post!) This fabric is lovely and thick such a treat to work with... They will be cosy to wear, bearing in mind they are cotton!!
Well I hope you enjoy this post I'm off for round to.... I have some Kimono work to share!!

Hello there how is everyone??
Here we are at another Monday... I am still a happy Monday person it has to be said. I here so many groaning about it but it's the beginning of routine for me... I love a Monday morning.
Today's post is all about my fabric haul over at Abakhans Fabric over in Manchester. Anyone who doesn't mind TK Maxx or a good old rummage will adore this store there are so so many gems to be found. The first floor is all just wire baskets filled with cotton, linen, wool, dress fabric.... I could go on but I would really be here all day!! There is a section through the back that is filled with wool, patterns and heaps more it.s a feast for any avid sew-er or wool lover!!!
Upstairs is more fabric but this is all on the bolt.... This is where all the patterns are, with a large button collection, more ribbon than you can shake a stick at.. I think if I had no kids with me I could easily spend a day here just rummaging!!!
So on to my haul...
This is for some girlie pram rag quilts!!
This is for some boy pram rag quilts

This may be rag quilts.... But it is very nice, it may go straight in to the stash (you know the oh dear will I cut it or not pile!!)
this is so a quilt!!

And again!!!!

And again....!!!
This is going to be a fleece lined circle scarf... And an extra one for Christmas pressies!!

This is gonna be a top... Have you seen the freebie on Coletterie site?!?!!? I think this would be lovely in this fabric... Think this pattern is gonna be a fave!!!

This is gonna be a linen skirt.... I have to find the pattern, But I reckon I have heaps in the stash!! This is gonna be my Christmas day outfit!
This is for a top.... Also for Christmas day!!
This has no purpose as of yet, but it has St Patricks written all over it!!!
So what do you think of that for a haul????
FAB FAB I say!!!
I have another post to write not so.... see you in a min!!! Hope you've enjoyed my haul. I plan on sewing tonight so will have a actual sewing thing to show you!!!
